For twin sister to Margot.

Sylvie is much nicer and goes very well with Margot. Audrey/Maude sounds like the frumpy sister. Sylvie is more “equal” to Margot in my head.

Rainallnight · 09/11/2025 02:01

I know a young Audrey and I think it’s very cool.

FourFiveEightNine · 09/11/2025 05:35

Sylvia Margot Smith-Smithingly

Daphne Maud Smith-Smithingly

Perfect!

garlictwist · 09/11/2025 05:39

Neither. But especially not Audrey.

thornbury · 09/11/2025 06:03

Maud was my great aunt, she died at 93 about 12 years ago. Audrey is my aunt (Maud's daughter), she's 79 now.

So how old is the baby name that you want to use?

pincklop · 09/11/2025 07:13

Margot and Elise

RosesAndHellebores · 09/11/2025 07:21

Margot and Daphne are brilliant together.

user1492757084 · 09/11/2025 07:26

Audrey for sure. It's sweet

To me Margot is not as lovely as Matilda, Margaret, Marina, Magdalen or Madeleine.

Absolutely love Margot and would pair it with a Martha, Minnie or Maeve as I love those names too.
I already an Olive.

i personally don’t like either of the names you’ve suggested

Minnie? That's just awful. It's a nickname or a mouse!
Suppose she turns out to be large and muscular? Give the child a proper name.

MrsEmmelineLucas · 09/11/2025 07:32

Audrey is fine. I would avoid another M name as it's a bit matchy. Give them distinct identities.
Oh and I don't think there have been scullery maids for more than 100 years.

MrsEmmelineLucas · 09/11/2025 07:38

Names with a similar vibe, not starting with M and not ditsy:
Olive
Sylvia
Beatrice
Winifred
Philippa
Lorna

Oh gosh totally agree! Cutesy names are fine but they need to work when the child becomes an adult and Minnie definitely could not survive that transition! And if the child grew up introverted, small or just generally quite then yiu just know she’d be called Minnie Mouse or some such 🤦🏻‍♀️

I appreciate your constructive feedback.
Sylvie and Daphne were my other to options to go with Margot.

I feel Sylvie and Margot match each other in coolness, I would definitely go for them

meadster · 09/11/2025 10:22

I wouldn't have twin girls with the same first initial. There's too much potential for errors to be made (with medical records, hospital appointments, school records etc) if they have similar names and the same date of birth.

Love Sylvie. Audrey is OK.

YourWinter · 09/11/2025 10:24

Audrey. Don’t have “M&M” twins.

And now Matilda is also an option, she's my grandmother, born in 1910 and sadly no longer with us. My other grandmother was Margery, quite similar to Margot.

dontletmedownbruce · 11/11/2025 17:11

Ha! They were both my grandma’s names.
Maude my mum’s mum
Audrey my dad’s mum

I much prefer Maude (with an e). There was a likeable character in ‘Mockingbird’ called Miss Maudie.

Nicolathecat · 11/11/2025 18:26

Both are gorgeous and would be a great choice. I went for Audrey as it flows a bit better with Margot.

KarriTreeSullivan · 12/11/2025 09:35

Personally I think Maud is the most awful of all the names on the planet, ugly looking, sounding and depressing. I don't usually mind Audrey, I think it is quite cute, but seeing it next to Maud somehow makes it a bit depressing and glum. not that you would have and Audrey and Maud.

But I am a random anonymous stranger on the internet and it is just my opinion, we all have different tastes so you do you. (But please not Maud!😉)

Neveranynamesleft · 12/11/2025 10:10

Neither sorry. I like ' old fashioned ' names but not those.

Emanwenym · 12/11/2025 10:17

I really like Maud, @Neveranynamesleft, I think it's rather lovely. Much nicer than Margot and Audrey.

I agree. I'm amazed anyone likes it. It's just...hideous.

Livpool · 12/11/2025 11:52

Both awful - Maude especially

TeenLifeMum · 08/11/2025 18:28

Not anymore. Like Elliott can be fit either.

Elliott is a boys name too

ppaaWWss · 13/11/2025 07:18

I like both as names, would choose Audrey of the two as I think having matching initials is a bit naff, but really love the combo Margot and Sylvie!
