For twin sister to Margot.

I love both! Sorry not helpful.

SeigneurLapindeGrantham · 08/11/2025 20:00

How about Audra? I remember years ago watching Act of Will which had an Audra played by Victoria Tennant, what happened to her I wonder. Quick google tells me it means noble strength!

Vitriolinsanity · 08/11/2025 20:01

Audrey. It’s an elegant name.

QwertyAtThirty · 08/11/2025 20:05

I think it's interesting that they both have similar meanings. Audrey "noble strength" and Maude "strong in battle". Was that deliberate?
Of the two, I like Audrey better, although Maude is my mum's name so I've enjoyed seeing it get (some) love on here ❤️
Also like Eliza and Sylvie. Don't love Daphne; prefer Delphine.

Vitriolinsanity · 08/11/2025 20:09

I like neither Matilda or Mabel.

Im rather in love with Polly though as I’ve just met an enchanting teen who wears is beautifully. The “Oh” would go well with Margot (which is also beautiful).

Vitriolinsanity · 08/11/2025 20:13

I also love Daphne, and plan to call my miniature dachshund of the future once my aunt of the same same is gone.

Skybluepinky · 08/11/2025 20:28

No don’t use either both ugly names, you can’t have Margot a beautiful name with an ugly one, what other names have you got a choice of?

ThatKhakiLeader · 08/11/2025 20:40

I prefer Audrey because I love the name Audra.

Pranksters · 08/11/2025 20:50

They’re both awful but Maude really is so drab. I would hate to be called Maude.

LoveMaths · 08/11/2025 21:13

Maeve is nice.

dontdarepokethebear · 08/11/2025 21:15

I’d go with Aude! Half wast between the two. I also I know a gorgeous little French Aude. She also gets called Audie.

BruFord · 08/11/2025 21:20

LoveMaths · 08/11/2025 21:13

Maeve is nice.

@LoveMaths Oh yes, Maeve is lovely.

mostlylovinglife · 08/11/2025 21:20

Martha + Margot

Pixiedust49 · 08/11/2025 21:33

Maud is a pretty name, prefer it to Audrey.

Denim4ever · 08/11/2025 21:41

I had an aunt - born in the mid 1920s - who was named Vivienne Maud. Her first name was my paternal grandmother's name. Aunt preferred Maud. I never got this because Vivienne seemed much nicer to me, plus the shortening made her Auntie Maudie which seemed even less of a good idea.

I don't think Margot is the same vibe as either option. In popular culture Margot was a character played by Penelope Keith and her next comic role was Audrey.

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 08/11/2025 21:45

Audrey is beautiful

Joolsin · 08/11/2025 22:06

wertgyhjk · 08/11/2025 18:02

Maudrey! 😁

My first thought, too!! Very amused at both our silly senses of humour @wertgyhjk !!

AnotherNameChange0 · 08/11/2025 22:12

Neither. Both depressing!

Mandarinaduck · 08/11/2025 22:17

I like both but I prefer the way Margot and Maud sound together. I prefer Maud without the -e personally.

Elephantangel1991 · 08/11/2025 22:21

Berlinlover · 08/11/2025 19:24

Neither and Margot will spend her entire life being called Margaret.

I doubt is, Margaret is much less popular. Margot is very trendy in the generation she will be in.

Margot is 28th most popular girls' name in England and Wales in 2024. Margo 392 and Margaux 418. All higher than Margaret at 493.

Judellie · 08/11/2025 22:44

Sylvie/Sylvia is far prettier than either Audrey or Maud, but if it has to be between those two, then Audrey is marginally better.

wandawaves · 08/11/2025 22:46

Maude is awful.

AgentPidge · 08/11/2025 22:51

I love Maud (prefer that spelling). Not hugely keen on Audrey but it's not awful and it goes better with Margot.

LivingTheDreamish · 09/11/2025 01:25

Love Margot and Daphne! That would be my pick.

BruFord · 09/11/2025 01:32

LivingTheDreamish · 09/11/2025 01:25

Love Margot and Daphne! That would be my pick.

@LivingTheDreamish I think they sound like characters from an Agatha Christie mystery, 1930’s glamour. Which isn’t a bad thing!
