My name has a male and female variant
It was number 36 the year I was given it
It was acceptable in the 80s
It's a bit French
It's also a little bit Essex
Most people shorten it

My name is very short, not much more than an initial really. You never ever meet anyone called this who is younger than 55

Amie!

Yes! :D

It’s forever spelt incorrectly (thanks mum 😏), but it bothers me less these days!

Supply teachers would misread my name as a red haired musical character.

Mine is a Latin variation of a common 80s/90s name.

When Gandalf says ‘speak friend and enter’ in LOTR, my DS used to shout my name 🥹

Anne

@HelloVeritas I was going to post a clue very similar to yours so I when I saw your post, I expected to see that we have the same name, but no!

So- my name was very common in the 70s and 80s. There were at least another 5 in my year at school, including one in my class. There are three ways to spell it (mine is the simplest). It is a Hebrew name whose meaning has something to do with sheep 😂 As names go, I quite like it- have certainly never hated it or wanted to change it.

Rachel, same as mine. :)

MrsNadjaCravensworth · 14/10/2025 20:45

Crikeyalmighty · 14/10/2025 20:47

@LiquoriceAllsorts2@MudMyNameIsMud. Indeed - although I’m 63 I quite like my name as it feels quite youthful to me !!! And when I need to be posh to complain or get better treatment , I use Victoria !!

My parents are both from a village in Yorkshire.
Met as teens, together still.
Mum was a teacher, Dad had an agricultural machinery business.
My eldest brother has the middle name Branwell.

Or if not Charlotte, Emily or Anne…

I have had every male teacher with the exception of two, sing this famous hit song with my name as the title within a week or two of class starting, my entire life. I am old.
