Alice or Anna

Hi All, expecting second baby girl, our toddler is named Emma. We absolutely love Anna and don’t really mind that they are similar sounding (actually we almost like it more for this) but we also like Alice.

Baby girl will absolutely be one of these 2 names, we aren’t looking for new ideas.

Which would you pick Alice or Anna

Much prefer Anna but find it too similar to Emma, so for that reason would pick Alice.

renthead · 29/08/2025 12:06

I agree that Anna is too similar to Emma. Alice is a better choice.

Don't like either what about Alyssa

I assume you missed the part where I said we weren’t looking for new ideas and would be using either Alice or Anna for certain?

Alice gets my vote. It’s lovely.

Agree with this

Snorlaxo · 29/08/2025 12:09

Anna is too similar so I’d pick Alice.

Notagain75 · 29/08/2025 12:13

Anna is a lovely name but if I had an Emma I wouldn't use it. It's too similar so I'd go with Alice

Moreteaandchocolate · 29/08/2025 12:22

Alice is my favourite girls name, so that would be my choice 🥰

PumpkinScarf · 29/08/2025 12:24

Both lovely names! I think Alice goes better with Emma.

BoleynMemories13 · 29/08/2025 12:29

Anna is much too close to Emma, both verbally and visually, with them both being 4 letter names starting and ending in a vowel, with a double consonant in the middle.

I prefer Alice anyway. Emma and Alice is a gorgeous, traditional pairing.

Pemba · 29/08/2025 12:29

Both lovely names. I do prefer Anna overall though , but with Emma as a sister it doesn't really work, so for that reason I'd go with Alice.

dontmalbeconme · 29/08/2025 12:31

I prefer Anna, but Alice goes better with Emma.

TallulahBetty · 29/08/2025 12:32

Anna. Alice is wet.

I assume you missed the part where people have free will to write their own opinions. Call your baby whatever you want but remember your not giving birth to an 80 year old for her sake

user2848502016 · 29/08/2025 12:37

They’re both lovely names but I agree with others that Emma and Anna are too similar, so go for Alice

MiddleAgedDread · 29/08/2025 12:39

Two of my favourite names but with Emma I would go for Alice.

RosesAndHellebores · 29/08/2025 12:45

Emma and Alice
Emma and Anna

Emma and Anna are too matchy, so Alice.

GiddyDog · 29/08/2025 12:47

Prefer Anna on it's own but too matchy with Emma so I'd go with Alice which is also lovely name.

pilates · 29/08/2025 12:49

Alice

dontforgetme · 29/08/2025 13:11

I love the name Anna. It being similar to Emma wouldn’t bother me in the slightest, they sound lovely together imo. My ds would have been Emma had he been a girl, its stunning.

Really beautiful names op.

MissingCrumpets · 29/08/2025 13:15

When you’re downstairs and they’re upstairs with a bit of background noise they won’t know who you are calling.
So Alice.
(I would have said Anna otherwise.)

dizzydizzydizzy · 29/08/2025 13:17

Anna. I don't think it matters whether it does or doesn't go with Emma.

Dutchhouse14 · 29/08/2025 13:18

I like both names, slight preference for Anna, but think Anna is too similar sounding to Emma so I'd go with Alice
