Milo or Axel

Hey,

I'm due baby number 2 and we're really torn between names

We currently have an Otis

We are torn between Axel or Milo

The middle name will be James and I'm just unsure on the MJ reference. Also I know a lot of people that have dogs names Milo which has put me off a bit.

Axel I'm worried about it being too different and being judged for it.

Please help with your opinions!

Both go beautifully with Otis but maybe Axel a bit more and can always be shortened to AJ if you like.

Are you set on one of these two but unsure what others will think or are you still looking at names? xxx

I know a baby Axel actually, so it may be one of those names starting to rise up the ranks. I like it.

Milo from the Tweenies, Milo the chocolate milkshake powder.

Milo is much nicer. I think Axel is too harsh sounding.

I'm bias as we have a dog and a horse named Milo 😂

We spent such a long time going through names and Axel was my favourite choice for months and husband likes it but he wanted something else so I stopped thinking about it until recently and I think that's why I'm having doubts about it now.

He loved Miles but I wasn't keen so settled with Milo and now we can decide between.

I do like the idea of AJ too x

Milo is lovely.

Axel makes me think of wheels.

Milo and Otis was a movie from the 80s about the adventures of a puppy and kitten. Unfortunately alot of cruelty was linked to the making of the movie. The reference might not matter to the babies generation but it's where my mind went.

You may also have more of an inkling when baby is born too!
Axel means father of peace and Milo means Soldier and merciful (according to Google!) and you may also feel one suits better once born.

Both names go well with Otis. I much prefer Alex to Axel but I do know a couple of young Axels (both have a Swedish parent, perhaps a lot more popular there). Milo makes me think of the Australian drink but it's quite nice sounding. I don't know any young Milos under 10.

I love Axel, it was my choice for my youngest but DH wasn’t keen so we chose something else.

Milo seems to be the number one choice for dogs at the moment; I know 5 canine Milo’s. As such I wouldn’t call a child it.

Milo is great and goes well with Otis. Not keen on Axel.

Axel is a bit too much of a roadies name for me.

How about Alec or Alex instead? You could call him Axel as a nickname, but he'd have the option of using the formal on for work.

Milo was a Tweeny... Axel was a fab character played by Eddie Murphy!

I really like Axel. Too many "oh" sounds with Otis and Milo.

I can only think of the movie 'milo and otis'.. so prefer Axel. Would think you were naming after musical prefences if I heard Otis (Reading) and Axel (Axl Rose) but nothing wrong with that ☺️

Axel reminds me of the child killer so I prefer Milo.

If I were choosing I would pick Axel, more because I can’t imagine an adult Milo. I know there will be in future as I know a few baby Milo’s so this will change! I actually really like your husbands suggestion, Miles. It’s very classic and unusual.

As PPs said, Milo and Otis is a film. That sprang to mind for me immediately. Sweet names, but just so you are aware, for some people there will be an association with that
