Imagine being called Angel. Poor "unique" child.

Unique?

Why would you want to name a child something no-one has heard of or will question how to pronounce?
It’s them that will have to go through life with this, not you. You will just have a couple of years of explaining to blank faces.

Snippit · 27/08/2025 05:10

My daughters middle name is Clarice. She prefers this and wishes we’d named her with it. I have told her she can change it.

Unique - so you mean made up? A unique name is something no one else will have

Yes I don’t mean completely unique but uncommon may be a better way to phrase it, however it was more just to get ideas as I know angel and kaia are pretty common but if I asked for any names or common names I’d probably ge the same response as I can find googling, the standard Amelia, Louise, Emma type names

If you want your daughter to be the only one with her name in her class then Louise is a fairly safe bet! It’s number 867 in the 2025 name rankings

Names from the lost city of Atlantis.

Latnemme. - Lat-nemmi - bringer of light.

Aloznagrog. - Aloz-na-grog. - oh peaceful one.

Allerazzom. - Aller- azz-om. - high priestess.

Trebmemac. - Treb-menace. - first love.

Ogehcnam. - Og-eh-c’nam. - sweetly singing bird.

Nasemrep. - Na-sem-rep. Warrior Queen.

Imuollah. - I- mu-ollah- most beautiful one.

Notlits. - No-t’lits. - faithful and pure.

Attocir. - Att-o-cir. - Swift of foot.

Aduog. - A-du-og. - beguiling eyes.

Eirb - Eir-b. The rising of the sun.

Onirocep. O-Niro-cep. - kiss of the moonlight.

I always liked the boring, solid names from Atlantis:

Atef - graceful child, and
Raddehc - wise one

Much better than Lebybab, which I find sounds a bit common.

Edited

Alumirp was the one I liked. It's the traditional name for the second daughter of a third son. The first daughter would be called Aelyriad. In France, they use Nisruob.

I only ever met one Angelene (I’m related to her and she is wonderful) - obviously it can be shortened to Angel.
Similar perhaps to Mila (in my mind) are names like:
Mari
Niamh (Celtic names are often unusual outside the obvious Celtic countries)
Pia
Leah
Suki
Rumena
