…just out of curiosity and because I’m still in thinking of names for my daughter due soon. Thanks

How do you pronounce that one? Is it like isildur from lord of the rings?

It's a very old Welsh name, afaik, pronounced as spelt: Ess-ilt.

The anglicised version is Isolde, pronounced Is-old. It was then borrowed into other European languages, such as German and mostly pronounced Is-old-uh outside the UK.

Sherazade - to be known as Sherry or Button (I know!)

Lots of Skye which is interesting because it is 100% a dog name. Especially Collies, Westies, Scottie, Retrievers and Labs.

It’s not a dog name. I have never heard of an animal called Skye. It’s a lovely Scottish name that is very popular here, for humans not dogs.

I agree - we know three dogs called Skye!

Perhaps I dont know enough young child bearing age women but ive only heard of one baby girl born in the past couple of years and her name is Myla. I really was starting to believe to statistics about the extremely low birthrate in the UK. By the the posts on this thread can still see theres still a good amount of babies being born.

I'm not in the UK and neither is the baby whose name I mentioned previously on this thread but I know 2 people in the UK with babies due this month.
The name of the last girl I know who was born in the UK is Ella, born last autumn. I also know of a Mabel.

All their family have names totally unrelated to their given names, e.g. older siblings are Bobs & Jester, but their real names are Amelia & Zacharia. I can’t explain it because I’d have to ask and I suspect they live to be asked about this affectation.
