Are there any nicknames for Oliver, other than Ollie?!

Olls
O
Olive
Liver

but seriously, nicknames evolve naturally over time. As far as diminutives go, no, not much choice from Oliver really!

Mayismymonth · 25/07/2025 12:05

My Oliver is now 25 and I still call him Boo when it’s just him and me as in Ollie Bollie Boo. I love Ollie though. X

CurlewKate · 25/07/2025 12:10

When my dd was in 6th form there were 5 Olivers. They were Oliver, Ols,Ollie, OllieOllie and OllieOllieOllie. Pretty sure this won’t help….🤣

I have an Oliver and we have never called him a nickname relating to Oliver. He got called a bunch of ‘cute’ nicknames as a baby/toddler though.

BarbaraVineFan · 25/07/2025 12:40

Apparently Olivers used to be called Noll, just as Eleanors were called Nell and Edwards called Ned. You could do Noll or Nolly?

Mh67 · 25/07/2025 14:20

Ol or ollie wollie

Marianwallace · 25/07/2025 14:25

I know an Oz and an Arg.

sarhumph1 · 25/07/2025 14:28

We have an Oliver and to us he is just Oliver. To others he is Ols, Ollie and O. He prefers to be Oliver though 😀

JamFirstThenCream · 25/07/2025 14:29

Our Oliver is Ollie or Oliver but he always gets everything else in between such as Ols, Poll, Dolly, Olivander, Oliflower, Olive, Ollie bean, Ollie bobbins, Ollie bobberts, Ollie Bee the list is endless but useless all the same. Can't actually think of a 'proper' nickname apart from Ollie though. Maybe Ols?

FullOfMomsense · 25/07/2025 14:31

I know an Oz, short for Oliver.

thatduck · 25/07/2025 14:32

My Oliver gets Oblob 🤷‍♀️

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 25/07/2025 14:42

Ol?

DeepPearl · 25/07/2025 15:37

My friends brother Oliver has been known as Rev ever since he figured out that Oliver backwards is Revilo when he was 5!

roshi42 · 25/07/2025 16:16

Liv? It’s a nickname for Olivia so I don’t see why it should be be for Oliver.

or Oller?

ooooohlala · 25/07/2025 16:37

The Oliver I know best is called Chops. No idea why.

Trying to impose anything other than Ollie is going to look very manufactured.

Limonades · 25/07/2025 17:55

Liver

My Oliver is mainly just called Oliver, but occasionally I call him Olliepop 🤣

It always fascinates me the amount of pregnant women who come on here pre planning nicknames. Forcstarters, a shortening of any names such as Olly for a Oliver isn't a nickname, it's just a shortened names. Secondly, nicknames tend to evolve spontaneously and often bear no relation to the child's name and are just cute pet names. Thirdly, nicknames tend to evolve naturally when you're interacting with your baby. Irl I've never heard of anyone planning a nn prior to birth.

Firstly, a nickname can be a shortened name. And secondly, I didn’t say I was planning a nickname prior to birth..?
