Help!! I cannot name my son!!

I’m having an awful time trying to choose my son’s name (he’s here already). In my list are Rowan, Roman, Rhys/Reece, Rian, Reagan, Mason, Jayden, Jamie and Corey. Problem is right now he suits Corey, but I’m also aware he won’t look cute forever and am conscious of choosing a strong name that will see him through his later years, which my daughters will. With a boy, I feel like I want his name to portray strength, handsome & cool, which is asking a lot. From searches I’ve realised I’m more drawn to soft names and gender neutral names for boys.

I’d love something unusual like my daughter’s name but with boys I just can’t seem to find that. As my daughter’s name is 3 syllables, I’d ideally like at least 2 or long sounding name eg Rhys.

can anyone share their thoughts on my list and perhaps share any other names they think I might love….

boys names are harrrrrrddddd!

Roman is the only one I like from those.

redpombears · 29/05/2025 22:46

I prefer Roman or Rowan to Corey. What about Edward with the nickname Teddy? Or Archie or Alban?

yestothat · 29/05/2025 22:48

Rowan and Roman are nice.
I really dislike Rhys, Rian, Reagan, mason, Jayden and Jamie. Corey isn’t so terrible but I don’t like it.

BorderTerrierTimesThree · 29/05/2025 22:49

Rowan or Rhys, cute for a little boy but strong and masculine enough to see him through teens into adulthood.

JaneJeffer · 29/05/2025 22:50

How about Rory?

MouldyCandy · 29/05/2025 22:50

From your list I like:
Rhys
Jamie - with James on the Birth Certificate
Ryan - please use this spelling

Suggestions:
Nathaniel / Nathan / Nate
Aaron
Jasper
Harry / Harris

Candleabra · 29/05/2025 22:52

What’s wrong with Corey, it’s a nice name. If that’s the name you like, I’d choose that one.

Els1e · 29/05/2025 22:53

Out of your names I would go Roman or Mason or Jamie. Personally I would go Niall or Neil. Doesn't fit your criteria but strong names

WaltzingWaters · 29/05/2025 22:53

I love Corey and personally think it suits adults too. Rhys nice too. I really dislike Roman.

AnneMarieW · 29/05/2025 22:55

Rowan is lovely - a classic nature name (although I slightly prefer the very classic Owen - which you might also like as it has a similar sound to Rowan and is Welsh origin like Rhys).

Rhys, Jamie and Corey are perfectly nice/fine names, just not particularly my personal taste.

Roman, Reece, Rian (or even Ryan), Jayden and Mason are all very trendy and not likely to age well (in fact an couple are dated already). Reagan is a right wing president still to most people, so I’d especially avoid that one.

As well as Owen, you might like Evan, Tristan or Dylan?

Chickenhorse · 29/05/2025 22:56

Alexander nick name Xander or Lex.

StrongandNorthern · 29/05/2025 22:56

Jamie.
How many syllables do you think Rhys has?

Lala87 · 29/05/2025 22:58

I've heard Corey being used as slang for todger

RedBeech · 29/05/2025 22:58

For longer names I love Raphael/ Rafael (Rafe or Raffy) or Gabriel (Gabe/Gabby) which imo work in childhood and adulthood.

As a PP has said Nathaniel Nate/Nathan could also work
Zachary/Zachariah nn Zak, Zacky

Are these at all close to what you are after?

Mandarinaduck · 29/05/2025 22:59

I think Corey is lovely and meets the brief of strong, handsome and cool.

I like it the best from your whole list.

InkWTF · 29/05/2025 23:01

What about Connor, Dylan, Declan, Ezra, Ellis, Xander, Xavier, Luca or Milo

AdaColeman · 29/05/2025 23:01

Roman is a fantastic name, I hope that's the one you choose.

AnonWho23 · 29/05/2025 23:04

I like Rowan the most out of all your names.

I would like to throw Ethan into the mix. It literally means strong or firm.

Agree. Really like Rowan.
I do like Jamie too. The ones I know are lovely men.

PanderBare · 29/05/2025 23:06

Rowan is by far the best on your list.
James is better and could be Jamie.
I don't like the others.

Suggestion: Robin

Gulliver88 · 29/05/2025 23:07

You mention your daughter's name is 3 syllables.
What about ,
Sullivan
Atticus
Benjamin
Lots of surnames like Anderson

sunnyhoneybumblebee · 29/05/2025 23:09

I like Corey and Rowan out of your list.

how about Jude, Jesse or Jonah

Boopeedoop · 29/05/2025 23:11

Needmorelego · 29/05/2025 23:11

Jamie.
James on the birth certificate.
Good solid classic name.

PizzaSophiaLoren · 29/05/2025 23:12
