We've decided on a middle name - but how to spell it ?!?!

We both love the name Anabel so it's in! However I have no idea how to spell it as there are so many ways.

MN jury, which one do you think is best? What is the most regular way of spelling it??

  1. Annabelle (too poncy?)
  2. Annabell
  3. Anabel (not finished??)
  4. Anabell
  5. Anabelle (weird?)

pmsl at you having such a long list of alternative spellings but missing out the 'correct' one!

Friend just had a baby called Annabel Violet - lovely name.

AbbeyA · 21/05/2008 07:47

I like correct spellings so I would go for Annabel. Whatever you choose you need 2 n's or you don't have Anna with a short 'a'as in cat you have 'a' as in cake.

Cantsleep - I know, bit embarrassed about that actually!

Elizabeth is not really poncey surely?

Well obviously I don't think it's particularly poncy, although I conceed that sticking Annabell on the end might ponce it up a bit, but Elizabeth in my mind is a classic rather than a poncy name.

Plus it has lots of capabilities to be shortened as well, which was a big issue for me because I've got a short name that you can't get anything out of and I was always envious of people who had nicknames.

Definitely Annabel - one n just looks completely wrong. The only other alternative I think woud be Annabelle which is pretty too!
