Taisa/Taissa.

I will tell you how I would want it pronounced once I have a few replies. Trying to gauge how complicated/annoying a name it would be.

Tay-sa

Natsku · 30/04/2025 08:35

Taisa I'd pronounce tie-sah and taissa I'd pronounce ties-sah - so not the same, a definite difference if there's a double consonant.

Soontobe60 · 30/04/2025 08:36

Tay rhyming with ray sa as SA in ISA

Scousemousey · 30/04/2025 08:37

Taser? Stick 'em up!!

BumbleBeegu · 30/04/2025 08:37

Tay Sah
Tie Sah
Tay Zah
Tie Zah
Tai Ee Sah

Etc!

No idea…but I’d randomly go through the above and hope for the best 🤷‍♀️

Harpey · 30/04/2025 08:38

Nope, I can’t hear any difference in s or ss. Both of those combinations make the same sound (or at least that’s what we teach our children in phonics lessons) 😂

RentalWoesNotFun · 30/04/2025 08:38

Tay-sa or Tyza.
I would be unsure which.

godmum56 · 30/04/2025 08:45

Tazer for the first. Taysser for the second.

does it not make a difference if its one s followed by an e or 2 ss's? like "vase" and "mass"

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 30/04/2025 08:48

@JusttInCase tie eesa

AdaColeman · 30/04/2025 08:49

Tie ss ah

Mostunexpected · 30/04/2025 08:49

Tie-ee-sah (for Taissa)
Tay-sah (for Taisa)

This. Which isn’t ideal really.

I would pronounce the spellings differently. Taisa-to rhyme with Laser, and Taissa like Tessa with an ai sound instead of the e.

They sound different to me

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/04/2025 08:56

So the conclusion is that nobody would have a clue how to pronounce it, you'll get 20 different interpretations anyway, and the owner of the name will have to spell it out to absolutely everyone for all her (his?) life.

If that's your requirement for a name then that's great. You might however want to consider the poor sod who would be stuck with this albatross instead?
