Middle name for Gia?

YourAmberFawn · 16/03/2025 23:13

Hi!

Baby girl is due any day now and we have officially settled on Gia (Jee-a).

I am loving Gia Rosalie Yates but the husband is going with Gia Eliza Yates.

Help is appreciated!

TO BE CLEAR - I am not looking for any negative opinions on the name Gia. That’s her name and any advice on her name will just be unnecessary.

Thank you :)

I like Gia. Its easy to pronounce, spell and can't really be shortened. My immediate thought was Gia Carides the actress and thought you might have Greek ancestry.

My only reservations with Gia Eliza Yates are the initials- GEY.
Rosalie is nice. Any family names you'd like to use as a middle name?
Gia Coralie Yates
Gia Rosalia Yates
Gia Fleur Yates

Good catch!
I’ll mention the initials to him and it might be enough to make him side with me :)

Jeanne

LilyJosephine · 17/03/2025 01:33

Assuming there are no particular family/friend honouring reasons for Rosalie or Eliza then I’d suggest Gia Josephine instead so you can use Gigi as a cute nn. Or Gia Genevieve for the same reasons - plus it’s really alliterative and memorable (if any middle name can be said to be memorable).

If it has to be between Rosalie and Eliza then I personally much prefer the look and sound of Rosalie.

Helloyouok · 17/03/2025 01:40

Gia Rosalie is gorgeous 😊

sel2223 · 17/03/2025 04:37

I love Gia!

I prefer Rosalie out of the 2 middle name options as prefer the ending being 'ie' and not another 'a' ending name.

Also the initials thing would make a difference for me.

Mumofgirls2017 · 17/03/2025 07:51

Gia Rosalie ☺️

Emanwenym · 17/03/2025 12:21

Gia Eliza will be Jeer Eliza in many accents. Jeer Yates.

Good luck with the birth.

Wasn't advice, unsolicited or otherwise. Merely an observation.
Shame really, as it looks pretty written down.

Thank you. i am indeed lovely,

SemperIdem · 17/03/2025 12:56

I think you’ve chosen well already with Gia Rosalie in terms of syllables and sounds.

Gia Rosalie is lovely. Gia Eliza doesn't flow well at all. I think the middle needs to starr with a consonant.
Gia Tamsin
Gia Catherine
Gia Marianne
Gia Sophie
Gia Rosalind

Snugglemonkey · 17/03/2025 14:43

Gia Rosalie is lovely. I agree that a consonant works better than a vowel for a second name with Gia.

mathanxiety · 17/03/2025 15:17

The problem with Gia Eliza is the vowels (a and e) running together. It doesn't flow. Gia Rosalie flows much better.

Zeitumschaltung · 17/03/2025 15:25

Would Elise sound better to you than Eliza? Might Elodie meet in the middle?
I wouldn’t worry about the initials almost spelling something as they don’t actually spell it.

Moreteaandchocolate · 17/03/2025 16:03

Another vote for Gia Rosalie! Lovely name 😊

Or

Gia Florence
Gia Madeleine
Gia Penelope
Gia Dorothy

Gia Phoebe
Gia Lucy
Gia Leonie
Gia Lorelei
Gia Molly

RavensMom24 · 17/03/2025 20:42

I love Gia Rosalie! Eliza is a lovely name but not sure it flows as well after Gia like Rosalie does. Gia Victoria is quite nice too x

WildCherryBlossom · 17/03/2025 21:13

Gia Rosalie is lovely! Nothing wrong with Eliza, but as others have said, it doesn’t flow so well with Gia.

I think you misunderstood that post. I took it that the poster was pointing out it that as there were two adjacent vowels between the two names, most people would subconsciously insert an 'r' to make it easier to say. Which ends up sounding like a rhotic 'Jeer'.

TBH- I thought that exact same and didn't think @Emanwenym was giving unsolicited advice! Just pointing out, like many others, that 2 vowels together clash and don't sound right.

Gia Rosalie is lovely, as I already said in my earlier post.
