Bird names

Morning, trying to work out if this is a good idea or if baby brain is sending me actually crazy haha.

I have a DS named Wren. We're now expecting #2, and there's a name I just can't get out my head. I've never heard anyone in our lives called this, but I'm worried that's because it's not a real name haha.

I absolutely love the idea of naming this little one Sparrow. Tell me (gently haha) if I'm mad, but I just love it.

DH loves Robin, but I already know of two Robin's.

Wren's a lovely name for a boy or a girl, and I really don't understand why people comment on existing children's names, there's literally no point.

Sparrow is a hard no from me too!

Fwiw I wouldn't have two bird names personally, although I like Robin.

Maybe something nature based would tie in well? Could go for a more unusual one like Rowan or Sorrel, etc as well as things like Violet, Daisy, Willow and so on?

Robin is much nicer but do you really want two bird names?

What about a nature themed name instead like Ash, Rowan, Jasper?

There’s variations on bird names in different languages - so dove could be Paloma or Colm or Callum or Jonah / Jonas or Jemima, or ravens / crows could be Bran or Branwen or Bertrand or even Wolfram.

I think two bird names would be a bit much.
Widen your search to other nature/animal themes.
River, Willow, Oak and Hebe are my favourite kids I know with nature monikers!

Wren and Robin/Robyn sounds lovely together, if you had two boys or a boy and girl.

I think you should go for this.

I like Mavis which is the old English name for a thrush. It's definitely better than its Latin name which is turdus.

Birdie would be cute for a girl I think!

I'm not british, maybe that's why, but I don't associate Wren with either gender. And I like the name for what it's worth !

OP I saw you're not going to use Sparrow, but I see nothing wrong with having a theme, so long as it's not too "in your face". After all if you like names with a specific vibe it's not odd to go for a similar vibe for subsequent children ! I have three and my theme was names ending in -s, which worked great while I was having boys (love names like Magnus, Marcus, Johannes, Anders...) but stopped being so great when my third ended up being a girl (not keen on Ines, Iris or Agnes).

A name I fell in love with recently (but sadly won't use as I'm done having children) is Celestine. It means sky in latin.

Also like Seraphine.

If it's a boy I've always loved Alexander, but if you're keen on it being a nature name and unusual then maybe Bjorn (bear), Sylvester (forest), Basil...

My guilty pleasure name is Onyx but obviously I couldn't saddle a child with it. Maybe when I finally manage to write a novel I can use the name for a fictional character !

You could probably get some decent names - Beryl, Selene, Rubi, Molly, Lawrence or Nick wouldn’t be too bad. Thor, Indi and Niobe at a push. I knew an Io at uni, which I always thought was a fabulous name (although I know it’s not connected to iodine).

I wouldn’t be looking to arsenic for inspiration though.

Sparrow is kinda cute, I must admit. A case of heart says yes, head says no....

All that said though, Robin is gorgeous, and two bird names would be perfectly lovely imo.

How about Raven? Would work for boy or girl.
