Clementine for our baby girl? Or is it just a fruit?

We both love the name Clementine but some people seem a bit perplexed when mentioned over the years that it's a name we think is lovely. "Like the fruit?"

Thoughts?

I am not keen, because it's a real mouthful and doesn't have any nice nicknames - Clemmy is just grim.

Clementina does at least give Tina as a nickname, if you're OK with Tina.

So I love the name Clementine. So much so that it is my daughter’s middle name. It was a toss up whether to use it as her first name but two things put me off: 1. We live in the north east and Clems are men’s balls. 2. I’m a secondary school teacher and I asked the kids opinions and one student said “if I met a kid called Clementine I’d bully her for having such a stupid name”. And that was the final nail in the coffin. If I lived in London I would have used it. Just wasn’t brave enough. But my daughter loves her middle name so much. Whenever she eats the fruit she says “like my name” 🥹
