Anson for a boy

What are your thoughts on Anson for a baby boy?

I have previously only known it as a surname but I was reviewing historic files at work today at saw it as a first name - and I love it!!

My only reservation is that it might be too similar to Hanson (a la MmmBop) and I would prefer a Scottish name.

DH and I have just started TTC so I’m going to add it to my names note 🤞🏼

Anson Williams springs straight to mind. (Just googled who that is. Apparently a very old reference that must have stuck from childhood TV.)

I think it's quite wholesome American and a bit Nordic sounding too.

My favourites for the hypothetical babe are (in order) Sorley, Lawrie, Seoras, and Innes.

Though I expect they will also be unpopular on here.

What about Ansel OP? Similar vibe but more commonly a first name.

First misread it as Arson. Then thought Hanson and have MmmBop stuck in my head. Then read it aloud and sounded like a market trader saying handsome. So no, please don't resurrect this one for a human baby.

Seen a couple of people on IG call their babies 'Soulie' which I think is quite sweet!?

Unfortunately Anson is likely to be misheard and a fair bit of explaining and/or spelling queries involved.

I was going to suggest Ansel too, Like Ansel Adams the photographer.

I just googled ‘Taylor Hanson now’ as this thread reminded me of mmmbop which I loved aged 14. He doesn’t look like a girl anymore 🤯 that’s for sure !
