Please share with me your favourite Scottish boys’ names

DH’s family are Welsh, mine are Scottish (although I was brought up in SE England). Our son is Elis (Welsh) and so I’m looking at Scottish names for baby boy number 2. Please share with me your favourites ☺️

Haha okay! Names like Henry don’t seem very popular in Scotland, wonder if that will ever change!

I’m guessing because of King Henry, I think it was 2 of them that invaded Scotland.

I know a family of 4 boys with Scottish names. Ross, Alasdair, Struan and Ruraidh.

you could look at Lachlan, Glen, Lewis. Callum, Hamish, Arran, Douglas, Andrew…

What about Scott? Simple, does what is says on the tin! I was at school with loads of them in Scotland in the 80s.

I stay in Aberdeenshire and I like Hamish, Brodie, Lachlan and James.

Most of the little lads around here are called Sandy (Alaxander), Stuart or Donald though.

My partner says hen all the time

I knew a Henry in Glasgow happily called Hen in his 70s now.

Really? I don’t think I’ve heard anyone under 70 say it for years and years. Then again I say jeezy peeps a lot and I think it’s because my mum says it.

Our son is Ruaridh and we get so many compliments on his name. We're in SE England (I'm Scottish), and I've been pleasantly surprised that people get pronunciation correct. We have 2 daughters too, one with Welsh name and one with Scottish name (husband Welsh), and our dog is called Hamish!
