Thoughts on Enzo and Ezra

I prefer Ezra but don't like the connection to George Ezra, and feel it's maybe a bit popular now.

I love Enzo too but there is something about it, and I can't put my finger on it, that makes me hesitant to use it.

Ezra is certainly popular these days. Seems to have taken over from Noah as the OT boys' name of choice. It's nice enough though.

Enzo always reminds me of Gonzo from the Muppets.

LeavesOnTrees · 05/10/2024 19:10

How about Ezio, an Italian name that means eagle ?

OnNaturesCourse · 05/10/2024 19:18

Ezio is nice but I'm not keen on the "ET" sound at the start. I'd prefer to just say Eh-Zio which is wrong but I love it that way. 😂

Ezra is a nice name - the only possible disadvantage is that it feels quite trendy and so it might not date well (or it might date well, it’s just a bit of a risk).

Enzo I might expect to be of Italian heritage- I only know it used as short for Lorenzo. It’s lovely though, and less trendy than Ezra.

OnNaturesCourse · 05/10/2024 19:59

We have no such heritage so prehaps that's why I'm resisting it a little.

Theo and John are the middle names so I don't think the "o" sound works well either.

Ezra - Jewish/OT name trend/George, but is OK. A bit too trendy.
I know an Enzo (Lorenzo) and he's of Italian heritage.

Ezio - Esio Trot.

GoodVibesHere · 05/10/2024 20:25

It's the name of the moment isn't it.

Enzo I would find a bit strange unless you are Italian? I have a friend called Enzo and he's Italian so I guess I would just think it a bit odd, but maybe that's silly of me.

FifiFalafel · 05/10/2024 20:33

Enzo was Drew Pritchard's dog.

kitsuneghost · 05/10/2024 20:53

Love Ezra. Enzo sounds a big sesame street to me.
I think Pretty little liars rather than George Ezra.

JC03745 · 05/10/2024 20:56

Enzo always reminds me of Gonzo from the Muppets.

OMG- I thought it was just me and have always thought the same! 😬

OnNaturesCourse · 05/10/2024 22:50

Elliott - not a fan
Ethan - doesn't sound right with other DC
Elian - sounds very feminine to me
Elias - again not to taste
Eddie - doesn't go well with other DC

Thank you suggestions tho!

I think they're both awful. I know a baby Enzo and it sounds like a monsters name. I know a couple of Ezras and I think it's just not nice and likely to be a trend that disappears again

USaYwHatNow · 05/10/2024 23:10

We liked Enzo, but we're a F1 racing fan family so decided against because of the links with Enzo Ferrari (nothing against the guy by the way...) it's just Everytime we spoke about it we all put on an Italian accent (some of my family are fluent Italian speakers). Lovely name ruined by circumstance for me!

imnotthatkindofmum · 05/10/2024 23:11

I know someone who has an Enzo and an Ezra. I think they're both fine but probably not together!

OnNaturesCourse · 05/10/2024 23:44

100% wouldn't use them together. Sorry my post is a bit unclear - we just can't decide between the names.

Enzo OR Ezra

Ezra sounds do Dickensian to me.
Enzo is very cool.

AutumnalCosiness · 06/10/2024 07:32

Enzo is a dog's name.

CoastalCalm · 06/10/2024 07:39

Sounds like names for muppets or dogs

GoodVibesHere · 06/10/2024 07:42

Enzo I've always known as being short for Vincenzo

Jk987 · 06/10/2024 07:48

Eric?

NameChange30 · 06/10/2024 07:57

I love Ezra!
How about Ivo? Too much "o" if you're using Theo as a middle name, although I'd choose the first name to begin with and then middle name(s) after.

Middle names are dedicated to people so must stay in some variation but understand your point. May consider Theodore as middle name alongside John.

Wouldn't use Eric, too old sounding for me.

I didn't suggest Eric?
