I really love it.
Is it the pregnancy hormones? Or is it as great as I think it is?

Are you feeling alright?! 😂

Mynaddmawr · 04/10/2024 19:28

Sorry OP but this made me laugh. You can definitely call your baby ducky but please give them an actual name as well 🤣 I call my baby ducky sometimes but she does have a human name

Thejackrussellsrule · 04/10/2024 19:30

What the Duck?
I think I've just dislocated my eyelids from eye rolling.

Of course you can.

It would be different if you were an actual duck. That would be confusing. Too many other ducks!

But, you're a person, so it's fine.

Round here everyone gets called duckie so they’d still have that problem

RogersOrganismicProcess · 04/10/2024 19:32

I’ve tried really hard to find passable names that are also breeds of duck:
Elizabeth
Kaiya

You could then have ‘Duckie’ with a get out if needed.

Cocothecoconut · 04/10/2024 19:35

Don’t be that parent
setting your child up for years of ridicule

MumChp · 04/10/2024 19:35

It's awful.

Atishooo · 04/10/2024 19:36

Only if you hate your child.

You do know that ‘duck’ is what people call each other in the East Midlands? As in ‘hey up me duck’ and ‘you alright ducky’. But it’s not a name. Just imagine how much your teenager is going to hate you.

Twototwo15 · 04/10/2024 19:39

Only in private.

If you lived where I live they would get called Duckie anyway, at least by the dinner ladies at school.

Atishooo · 04/10/2024 19:42

That cute phase where you can dress your baby/toddler as a duck only lasts so long. Then the tantrums start. Then they won’t want to be a duck. Or be called one.

drspouse · 04/10/2024 19:42

Judge Duckie Jones?
Professor Duckie Brown?
Hello, pleased to meet you, I'm the manager, Duckie Williams?
No. Just no.

Wheelz46 · 04/10/2024 19:42

The name brings back memories of the film 'Pretty in Pink'. Jon Cryers character was called Duckie, he was a great character but the name is a definite no no though 😬

Springadorable · 04/10/2024 19:44

I assume you hate them already

80smonster · 04/10/2024 19:45

What’s your surname? Please say it’s Pond.

Yes, it’s a lovely name and your child will never be bullied for it - and will look great on a cv when older 😳

ProvincialLady2024 · 04/10/2024 19:49

It's a lovely pet name and do use it at home, but not as a Christian name.

LetsSeeHowFarWeveCome · 04/10/2024 19:50

Absolutely Not

I very rarely veto a name as I love the name mona

but duckie….no. Nickname yes but could you ever imagine a judge called duckie…..

ProvincialLady2024 · 04/10/2024 19:52

Naming a child is a huge responsibility.
I think celebrity "branding"
Has encouraged the wider population to be more daring with names - often to the child's detriment.

Classic names are classic for a reason.
The others are trends that will one day seem very crass and dated.

Pebbles16 · 04/10/2024 19:53

If you want them to live a life of misery

WhimsicalGubbins76 · 04/10/2024 19:53

Not unless you’re from stoke, where it’s used as a term of endearment… 🤣

UglyFatandStupid · 04/10/2024 19:54

@Wheelz46 I was thinking that too, and I love the film so much, but I was always Team Blaine, even though he was a wet blanket
