I really love it.
Is it the pregnancy hormones? Or is it as great as I think it is?

Dulcie, Dorrie, but not Duckie , no!

SnozPoz · 05/10/2024 19:44

Nope

Bernardo1 · 05/10/2024 19:46

No, you're an idiot, or a N.C.I.S. groupie.

@Wheelz46 I was thinking that too, and I love the film so much, but I was always Team Blaine, even though he was a wet blanket

What??? Team Blane?? Why?

He didn't believe in Andie: he let his awful friends speak to her like dirt, then ghosted her and lied about it. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. And she forgave him because he went to prom alone. Pfft.

Tessiebear2023 · 05/10/2024 19:48

Yes, yes you can. But then, my children call me Mufsies (two of them are grown men).

Avoidingsleep · 05/10/2024 20:08

As a nickname yes. Especially if their name happens to be Donald Mallard.

Personally I wouldn’t use it as a proper name, I feel like it would set a child up to be bullied. Also, imagine working with or hiring someone called Duckie…

TorroFerney · 05/10/2024 20:09

Thanks op, I’ve now got “pretty in pink” by the psychedelic furs going round in my head.

MarvellousMonsters · 05/10/2024 20:10

As a pet-name, yes. As an official name on the birth certificate, absolutely not.

suzysnowball · 05/10/2024 20:14

Give your child a name it won't be embarrassed by and change your own name to Duckegg or whatever it if you like it that much.

NoDought · 05/10/2024 21:23

As a pet name or a real name?

NewBrightonEel · 05/10/2024 21:25

I remember at primary school (I'm 57) and the kids used to say this joke:

"Hey - you've got upduckie on your shoulder"
"What's upduckie?"
"Nothing sweetie" (in a camp voice)

I still cringe 50 years later. Trust me - your kid will blame you for getting bullied - and they won't be wrong!

Skybluepinky · 05/10/2024 21:53

Of course not unless u want people to call them the ugly duckling.

I'd ask myself is it: cute at 2? Cool at 12? Cringe free 20+?

If they grow up to be a lawyer? Dr? Teacher? Will they be able to share their first name?

Also Duckie is the dinosaur from land before time, and the actress playing her.. well look it up it was horrible..

I don't think I'd do it. I'd maybe use it as a nickname when they're little but your baby your choice

retirementrocks · 05/10/2024 22:39

I think you already know this is a ridiculous name or you wouldn't have posted. Poor kid.

Horses7 · 05/10/2024 23:02

Noooooooo!

Pieandchips999 · 05/10/2024 23:04

If you are a duck, particularly a cartoon duck then yes. Otherwise no

😂 DUCKIE! LOL!!!!!!!!!

Beautifulweeds · 05/10/2024 23:07

You know the answer, no! You can call them it as an affectionate nickname but please not own name!

caringcarer · 05/10/2024 23:17

Wowzel · 04/10/2024 18:44

I'd go with Donald....

🤣

caringcarer · 05/10/2024 23:18

It's ridiculous. Poor baby.

pollymere · 05/10/2024 23:22

Decidedly not a good plan. Imagine him growing up to be Chief Constable or a Barrister...

Dillydollydingdong · 05/10/2024 23:26

Just winding us up. Not serious, really? :-O

Washingupdone · 06/10/2024 00:26

No. As one PP suggested earlier, introduce yourself with that ‘name’ to the next person who asks for your name. In fact as you think it is such a good name use it until your beautiful baby is born and then see what you think of it.

wmch · 06/10/2024 08:53

Only if you're Larry Grayson.

Henry V111 called Ann Boleyn’s breasts duckies.

Cor, he was such a charmer!
