How would you pronounce Miro?

Someone suggested it for our boy. I’m just curious about whether most (English) people would pronounce it the same way as us.

We like it but not sure it’s the one. Trying it on to see if it’ll grow on us.

There’s an online white boarding tool called Miro and I hear a mix of pronunciations when people use it at work. So it’s definitely open to interpretation.

My initial reaction would be to rhyme with biro.

I don’t think any of the pronunciations sound horrible tbf.

My DDs name is Vada, and we get a range of pronunciations for that too. Vah-da, Vay-der (as in Darth), and Vay-da which is the one we use. She answers to all of them 🙂

but in reality I'd think about your heritage (if known) & have a better go. Though hopefully you'd say it first!!

in my head I'd be pronouncing you DD's name like you, buy with my accent I think to your ear it would sound more like vay der 🙄🙄

Yes, this, the first thing I thought of.

It'd pronounced various meero , mirror, or mirrow.

But please don't call your baby this. It will be like the people called Alexa (who were at least born before Amazon introduced their product).

I wouldn't know whether it was My Ro like Biro or Me Ro. That would be a good enough reason not to use it for me.

I'd pronounce Miro like Niro or Hiro.... basically Mee-ro.

Where are some of you getting the Y sound from?

Miro, mirage, miracle etc all sound like Mee

Biro, as many have cited.

Me - ro. To rhyme with hero

I think it's because it looks a lot like 'Milo'
