Currently 16 weeks with twins. Don’t know the sexes yet. Need some inspiration. What would you call yours?

Which names do you like OP?

Ediewasmypreference · 13/08/2024 20:10

I would of done -
Freya and Martha
Theo and Felix
Edie and Otis

several sets of twins in my family, avoid the same initial as it always blends into one jumbled name in a rush.

I have twins and didn't find out the sex until they were born so we spent a long time thinking about this!

As people have said not the same initial, same initial, address and DOB is too confusing admin wise. We also went for complementary names (not rhyming or anything but same sort of style/era/number of syllables). We also gave the baby born second the name that was first alphabetically so that although they'll always be the youngest they'll go first in the register at school etc.

Also googled all the combinations of names just in case!

Harriet
Martha
Edward

cant really think of a second boy name currently

SquigglePigs · 13/08/2024 20:59

Girls:

Any two of:
Eleanor (Ellie)
Charlotte (Charlie)
Harriet (Hattie)
Kathryn (Katy)
or Zoe and Hannah

If pushed I'd go with Eleanor and Harriet.

Boys:
Probably Christopher and Matthew but might swap Matthew for Daniel.

One of each I think would be Eleanor and Christopher.

If they were different sexes, definitely Alexander and Antonia - both elegant, ancient classical names with the same number of syllables and initial to link them (cute for b/g siblings since they wouldn’t have postal confusion with Mr/Miss); while still being timeless, internationally well used and with lots of nn choices too to look at the names from a more practical perspective.

Same sex twins I’d find it harder I think - but maybe Alexander and William or Anna and Julia? Again, classic, timeless, international choices that pair well imo (although I couldn’t actually use Julia since that’s my own name🤣 -so maybe Claudia instead.)

Mixed - any combo of the above that works (I wouldn't use names with same initials, for example)

I don't like twins being treated as a matching set, I don't think it's healthy for the individual children.

So I would just go with names I like...

Genevieve
Norah
Jonathon
Marc
