What do you think of the name Luna?

We are sort of stuck on it for a girl but I am not 100% sure though I do keep coming back to it and swing from loving it to thinking it may sound a bit astrological.

We need a soft name to go with a rather harsh surname full of C's. Also - can anyone suggest a middle name that might go with it??

DD has my middle name and if we have a boy, he will have DH's, so if it is a girl, what do we do??

A friend of mine has twin girls and she named one Sno (no W) and the other Luna. Honestly it would be a cool middle name, but not a first name.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 16/04/2008 18:26

My SIL is Selena.

MaryBS · 16/04/2008 18:31

Lydia?

I have a customer called Leila. I always wanted to sing "Her name was Leila, she was a showgirl". Yes I know it wasn't Leila in the song, but its what it reminded me of!

Harry Potter.

(my loony (!) step sister named her daughter Luna 15 years ago)

How about Diana, Selene/Selina, (E)Stella, Astrid?

FAWKEOFF · 18/04/2008 12:03

i just think of luna lovegood and those damn narkles

vanloadtovenice · 18/04/2008 23:03

Hmm, v v Potter. Lula rather fab though.

Pregnancy hormones are the root of many a left field name choice me thinks.

pinkyminky · 18/04/2008 23:33

my DD is Lula

WowOoo · 18/04/2008 23:36

Haven't read all sorry but Luna makes me think 'mental = moon' , so would not want to curse a child with my nuttiness. BUT, i do actually like it, in a random kind of way!!!

Izzybel · 18/04/2008 23:39

I would think of it as pretty, but isn't there a pushchair called Luna? The Mamas and Papas Luna. It would make me think of that.
What about Lulu or something similar?

LyraSilvertongue · 18/04/2008 23:44

Forget Luna (Looney Luna Lovegood) ad go with Lyra. It's a fab name.

LyraSilvertongue · 18/04/2008 23:47

Actually I do like Luna too.

Janni · 18/04/2008 23:48

I don't like it.

Am currently loving 'Charlie and Lola' on CBeebies and in the Lauren Chile books, so I would go for

Lola or Lauren. Also like Laura and quite like Lydia.

Janni · 18/04/2008 23:55

Lara is quite a good name too.

CoolYourJets · 19/04/2008 00:00

Loveday.

LyraSilvertongue · 19/04/2008 00:40

Not Lara, Lyra
Loveday isn't even a first name, is it?

CoolYourJets · 19/04/2008 00:57

Loveday is. Loveday Minette in The Little White Horse

Janni · 19/04/2008 01:15

lyra - you ARE a little biased though, n'est-ce-pas?

LyraSilvertongue · 19/04/2008 01:21

Biased? Moi?

Lyra is gorgeous.
The M&P buggy is 'Loona'.
Vanloadtovenice - to me, your choice of Lula is rather left field - it's all relative isn't it.

Thankyouandgoodnight · 19/04/2008 08:23

Bottom - the buggy is actually 'Loola'.....

pinkyminky · 20/04/2008 09:49

I wouldn't worry too much about the brand names thing - there are millions of them out there, and lots of them a perfectly reasonable names- even the actual company owners name- shock horror!
