Why is it SO hard? We just want a nice, slightly different without being stupid name that isn't already being used by 10 other children where we live...please give me some suggestions?

We need boy probably more than girl but all are welcome.

Ds is Jaxon, we'd like something solid sounding along the same line.

Nothing really that ends "ey", as our surname does and they all sound a bit daft.

Everything is welcome. I've looked through a few threads and seems to have an association with them all! I'm going to explode!!!

TIA

Hector or Jonah.....great names I think

Volkl · 08/04/2008 21:19

Maxwell?

pinkyminky · 08/04/2008 21:23

Max is quite popular around here. I have a Felix. Hector is a good name- very heroic sounding!

bluenosesaint · 08/04/2008 22:35

Gosh, some of you have been really quite rude here.

OP was asking for suggestions for her dc2, she was not asking whether you liked her ds's name or not. Why is it approprate to belittle her choice?

Geez

Eek, apologies for spelling your son's name wrong! One of my son's best friends is Jackson so I got a tad confused!

pinkyminky · 08/04/2008 22:50

I had no idea, only read the OP. I'm getting a bit ticked of with these 'lets be rude about people's names' posts. Some bright spark pointed out on another thread that my son's name was a cat's name. Yeeees.. ..and? Our dog is called Jack- what about Thomas- quite another famous cat. Jasper can be the name of an earwig, but no-one could argue that it's not a lovely name, surely? Sod them. I'm not really interested in people's opinion if they think it's ok to be rude because something is a bit unusual. Reminds me to much of the bullies at school when I was a kid.

pinkyminky · 08/04/2008 22:52

sorry for rant, and that's too much, obviously.

Pen74 · 08/04/2008 22:55

Well said pinky. Felix is FAB by the way.

Well thank you to all the lovely people out there, esp bluenosesaint. Was feeling rather lastnight. I'm all for constructive criticism- your shoes don't go with that dress, your hair's a bit wonky etc- we can do something about these "errors". But I agree the rudeness is just bang out of order. Sod them eh? Sad b***ds with precious little else to do.

Our cat is Charley but it certainly suits humans too. Ooooh aren't names so versatile...

Love Dominic, Elliot and Harper, will try them out on dh tonight. Love Jenson too but fear it's too similar to Jaxon Jaxon JAXON yes Jaxon my gorgeous little boy. Do you think? Dare I ask another opinion???

Thanks again lovely ladies .

not sure that is necessarilly correct

fishie · 09/04/2008 08:49

bramblina am really sorry people have been so mean about your ds1 name. can only hope they were being thoughtless as it is one thing to discuss and disagree with suggested names and quite another to make remarks about a real person

i don't post my son's name here because i know the same thing would happen and it would feel like i'd exposed him on purpose it is just how some people are.

fishie · 09/04/2008 08:53

wilbur?

if your surname ends 'ey' and you already have a 'son' ending ds1 name then something ending in "er" will probably go nicely.

bergentulip · 09/04/2008 08:55

Layla, Ava, Beatrix, Annabel

Leopold, Max, Alfie, Dylan, Henry

Henry is very underrated I think, wellknown, but I seldom meet any!

Those are my faves for this morning anyway.

BexieID · 09/04/2008 08:57

I love Jenson, but couldn't use it as DFs surname is Henson!

Squirdle · 09/04/2008 09:00

It does annoy me when people blatantly say a posters childs name is horrible. People have different tastes, we don't all have to be the same do we? There was thread a couple of weeks ago saying the name of our youngest son was chavvy (stooopid expression imo) when it clearly isn't

Our middle son has a fairly unusual name though I know of at least one other MNer whose son has the same name and people have heard of it, but I don't care what people think. We love his name and so do most others, so a handful of people who I have never met really don't affect my life.

There is nothing wrong with Jaxon, it's not my preference, but it certainly isn't an odd name. I have seen far worse on here!
