Why is it SO hard? We just want a nice, slightly different without being stupid name that isn't already being used by 10 other children where we live...please give me some suggestions?

We need boy probably more than girl but all are welcome.

Ds is Jaxon, we'd like something solid sounding along the same line.

Nothing really that ends "ey", as our surname does and they all sound a bit daft.

Everything is welcome. I've looked through a few threads and seems to have an association with them all! I'm going to explode!!!

TIA

Desiderata, LOL LOL LOL we still like the girl's name from having ds so if nothing better () comes up then we'll stick with that but since then a family have moved here, our 2 los will be starting nursery together and that's her name (the mum) and as this is a small area I'm wondering how wise that is...

Twinkie1 yes, Jaxon, his name is "really" Jaxon, enid, as in Jaxon pronounced the same as Jackson, yes, spelled like saxon, yes, really.

Love Denholm but awful associations with a Denham. Damn.

Like a lot of your other suggestions but cannot believe how many associations we have with most of them. Is it the same for everyone? Am I just incredibly fussy?

Jaxon

CountessDracula · 07/04/2008 22:47

Oh don't be so overly sensitive

If you call your child Jaxon you have to expect some piss-taking

Flibbertyjibbet · 08/04/2008 00:20

Jaxon? JAXON? JAXON?

Thats it I am amending my mumsnet wotsit to hide the baby name threads I can't take any more.

That site gives Jason as a girls' name. Americans really lose the plot when it comes to naming babies.

lottiejenkins · 08/04/2008 08:45

There is an American actress called Jennifer Jason Leigh!!

EffiePerine · 08/04/2008 08:53

I just assumed Jaxon was an Anne McCaffrey ref. Or diff sp? Anyhow. Am v cheered to find a baby Wilfred on MN ( doubt DH would agree to that one, along with Wesley of which I am rather fond).

Hmm.

No suggestions though

lottiejenkins · 08/04/2008 08:55

My Wilfred is 11 but i do hope there are a few more Wilfreds... it does make me laugh that the name means "Bringer of Peace" I havent had any peace for about 11 and a half years!!!

EffiePerine · 08/04/2008 08:56

Wilf is a great short as well

As is Wes (sigh)

Nbg · 08/04/2008 08:58

I have an Ellis and Ethan.

Other names we liked were;
Mack
Bo/Beau
Burton (dh choice)
Rowan
Rohan
Sullivan
Austin
Oscar

There were more but I cant remember them.

stanleysmother · 08/04/2008 13:41

Hi Effie and Lottie - a slight hijack to big up the Wilfs.. I have one, although he's known as Wilfie and he's 7 months. The name ROCKS! x

cornsilk · 08/04/2008 13:43

Heathcliff

MoreSpamThanGlam · 08/04/2008 13:47

I like Sacha for a boy

josta · 08/04/2008 14:37

Wilf is well cute.

Never heard of Jaxon, is it american? It sounds it!

amitymama · 08/04/2008 15:51

Oh yes, must always blame the unusual names on the Americans, as they have a monopoly on strangeness and bad taste.

I don't think Jaxon is really that strange, it's just a spelling variation of Jackson. It's certainly not as bad as the way some people spell Ashley as Azhleigh or Kaylie as Kaaleey.

3andnomore · 08/04/2008 18:03

My sons names are Sven, Yannic and Flynn....they are uncommon and unusual and imo NOT stupid names (obviously)

fizzbuzz · 08/04/2008 19:05

I teach quite a lot of Johns......

Chester
Leo
Wesley
Oscar
Drake (ds want's to cal his son this!!!)
Simeon
Jacen (pronounced Jaken)
Jocelyn
Arthur
Harvey

Aero · 08/04/2008 19:29

Nothing wrong with Jaxon - my Dad has the same name (spelt traditionally with ck rather than x) and he's 60, so definitely not unheard of. I prefer the trad spelling myself, but nothing whatsoever wrong with the name! My ds and nephew both have it as a middle name too.

Alishanty · 08/04/2008 20:26

My ds is called Solomon. Unusual but not too wacky imo.
