I thought perhaps, to widen the pool of available names, we could share new names that children have made up for their dolls etc.

Today we have twin baby dolls: Argy and Bargy .

They have new names daily, I notably remember Moonie and Vaggie, will try and recall some others.

I'm sure there must be many other gems out there?

Namechanged in case my sister is on here - we were given matching teddies and called them both “Granny Pat” after our recently dead granny. Not sure how our mum (her daughter) felt about that. Named another teddy “Edith” after another elderly relative but at least she was still alive.

Our son wanted to name his sister Car Smoke 47 40. No idea why

When I was very small I named my dolly Johnson. After the woman in the library, who had the same colour hair (white). I also had Carrie Canton, Jennifer, Angelina and Allouise (don't remember the last one but my mum told me I definitely named the doll that).
My Gran bought my brother a teddy bear. My dad told him to call it Rubberguts. My Gran went mad and told him to call it teddy or Edward. The teddy bear became Edward Rubberguts.
And my friend's nephew wanted to call his new baby brother or sister 'Mrs Armstrong' after his favourite teacher.

@EchidnaKidney I’m laughing at your post so much I’m crying

My youngest has a polar bear called Glockenspiel. He has dozens of soft toys and I’m regularly tested on their names, I fail miserably. I can’t even get Glockenspiel right, I keep calling him Xylophone.

When expecting DC2 I asked DC1 what she thought we should call him. She had her heart set on "Mr Tiger Fluffy Boots". No idea where that came from. She also has a toy Octopus that she named Squiddy. I explained that a squid & an Octopus are very different creatures but she wanted Squiddy, so Squiddy it is.

For years we all thought dd had a stuffed dolphin called Bruce Banner Tornado. It wasn't until she learned to read and write that we discovered its name was Brew Spannat Anaydo.

When I was pregnant, my son insisted we had to call my daughter six-five-onion which, much to her annoyance, he still calls it her regularly and she's now 11!

My Daughter wanted to call my Son K-Rexus. She was 5 then and still wishes we'd called him K-Rexus now she's 16. He's called Rupert.

My daughter had two imaginary badgers that lived in the light shade in her bedroom. They were called Inglia and Onglia. Eventually Inglia and Onglia moved out of the light shade and went to live with their Grandma and Grandpa in a badger sett in the grounds of a big house nearby. We always had to visit them if we were there.

When I was pregnant with my second, my 4 year old wanted to name the baby "Neighbour " She told all her school friends too! She was very disappointed when baby was born with a different name 🤣
