Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

Hilarious, I knew a baby through work called Jimbob. We laughed a lot. (Out of sight and hearing of the parents)

If this is real - could you just give a name that has the initials Jim ? For example Jade Imogen May ?

Vastlyoverrated · 29/04/2024 11:42

I mean it's an interesting question why we find Kimberly ok and Jimberly not ok, but I would stick with one of the pretty James derivatives suggested.

I prefer Jimothy. Or Jimon. Or at a push Jim-Jams.

I'm with you. Was going to say Jimette but your suggestions are far better Smile

Probably in the same way that Stanberly or Johnberly isn't OK 😂

Jimantha
Jimabelle

Neveah-Jim! That's the winner!

Elebag · 29/04/2024 11:47

It's your hormones talking. Ignore them.

Embargomargo · 29/04/2024 11:47

Jemima is the answer here 🦆

Another vote for Jemima - which will sound like Jimima, even if it's not spelled that way.

elevens24 · 29/04/2024 11:49

Sounds like a biscuit.

Moonshine5 · 29/04/2024 11:49

No

PlantLight · 29/04/2024 11:50

They are their own person not a memorial and will forever feel they’re living in someone’s shadow. Sorry for the loss of your grandad. Maybe a middle name if you have too? We were going to honour grandparent but decided we wanted them to have their own name and it was freeing.
Of he was Jim that was James, then Jemima/Jasmine etc would still be enough of a link.

But otherwise just no.

What's your grandmother's name? (wife of Jim)

She left him for a taxi driver. 😕

Jimbolina is what you’re looking for, OP

Hakeje · 29/04/2024 11:51

No.

No.

No.

The child deserves her own name, that is easy to use and functional. Try to think of her as a person in her own right, not a tribute to another person.

Overtheatlantic · 29/04/2024 11:53

What part of Alabama are you from?

So Jimmy-2-Mins-Away is out then?

(Sorry op just making a bit of light out of it, I remember the hormones, I wanted to call one of our DC Smith for a little while 😬)

How about Jimobel or Jimoline?

That sounds like Germolene.
