…. Rudy!

Does it go? Would get called Roo, I think ..

It is our fave, but has been met with mixed reactions from parents, so kind of hunting for similar names …… or reassurance that Rudy IS a nice name, goes well with the other two and to go for it!

Some other names we liked:

Rowan
Remy
Ellis
Sidney
Jude
Spencer
Dexter
Rex
Cass

He’s nearly 3 days old and I just need to make a decision 😂

Any help appreciated!

Thanks x x

Rudy is great with your other boys’ names. I a little bit worry that it might be childish on a grown man, but my opinion isn’t necessarily anyone else’s! From the rest of your list I think Rex, Rowan and Jude are the nicest. I’m not feeling Remy or Cass. Sidney is awesome but seems to have been hijacked for girls.. Dexter seems a bit off kilter with the softer sounds of Louis and Jesse. Congratulations on your new baby!

Riverlee · 22/04/2024 08:48

Rudy fits well with your names.

Stuckmomma · 22/04/2024 08:53

How about Reuben? Then you could use the same nickname.

From your list I like Sidney and Jude the best

GlowyJoey · 22/04/2024 08:59

I loved Rudy but we were also with mixed reactions when we mentioned it - mainly from grandparents. An alternative we liked was Remy ☺️

I absolutely love Roo as a nickname!

How about Rui
pronounced Roo ee

Moreteaandchocolate · 22/04/2024 09:24

Rudy is ok - I’m just not keen on the fact it starts with Rude. I think it’s possibly a bit nicknamey for an adult too. But I don’t strongly dislike it.

From your other choices my favourite is Ellis - a great solid choice that’s not overused and sounds good with your siblings. I also like Dexter, Rowan, Spencer and Jude.

Not quite as keen on the others, and really dislike Cass.

Have you considered Rory?

WittiestUsernameEver · 22/04/2024 09:27

Ethan
Reuben
Nathan/iel

pontipinemum · 22/04/2024 12:09

The first Rudy I met was my boss in an office so didn't seem child like to me.

I don't love the name but I also think it's fine and does go with your other names - love Jesse.

From your list I like:

Rowan
Remy
Ellis - really like this
Spencer
Cass - but I might find something longer

Flopsy145 · 22/04/2024 13:36

Love it, think those three work well together. Congratulations ❤️

InTheRainOnATrain · 22/04/2024 13:40

I don’t like Rudy. Sounds like Rude and reminds me of Giuliani 🤢
I really like the rest of your list though, except for Cass because that sounds like it’s a girl and short for Cassandra. Jude is my favourite.

theduchessofspork · 22/04/2024 14:43

I like it

I might go for something that doesn’t have a y ending just to avoid being too matchy matchy - maybe Caspar? (I don’t think you can just call him Cass, it looks like your pen ran out).

pinkmags · 22/04/2024 19:11

Rudy sounds like a fart, a Rude-y Blush

Mumofgirls2017 · 22/04/2024 20:23

I think Rudy is great. Also like Sidney with your others.

user1492757084 · 23/04/2024 10:27

Louis, Jesse and Rudy sound well together.

Rudy is a casual and youthful sounding name.
Louis has a broader age appeal and Jesse is quite manly.
How about ..
Rupert
Rufus
Rex is nice though it rhymes with Jesse.

I completely disagree - Jesse to me is not manly at all (sounds like Jessie or the Big Jesse) and Rudy if short for Rudolph sounds middle aged.

Illpickthatup · 23/04/2024 14:27

I think Rudy is great.

One of my fave boys names is Rhuairidh, but I'm Scottish so most people here would know how to pronounce it. Not sure if it would cause issues elsewhere.

penelopewalks · 24/04/2024 19:03

Eurghh. Of all the beautiful boys names available, Rudy..?!

Rory
Gregory
Seth
Rafferty
Magnus
Willem
Cillian
Otto
Ivor
Oleander
Evander
Jolyon
Victor
Thomas (particularly nice with Louis and Jesse)
Samuel
Reuben
Jasper
Caleb
Elliot
Sebastian

itsgettingweird · 24/04/2024 19:06

I like Rudy but I know it can be difficult especially as close to a rude and shortened to Roo.

I'd go with Reuben or Spencer.

Isthisthisreallife · 24/04/2024 19:09

Personally not a fan but each to their own and if you like it, everyone else’s opinion shouldn’t matter. I like Remy and Dexter from your list.
Only Rudy I’ve ever known was a girl.
We never told anyone our kids’ names till they were born for this reason.

User284732 · 24/04/2024 19:11

This is funny, Louie and Jesse were on my shortlist for my son so I was going to suggest other names I liked, as we must have similar taste... and my son's name is Rudy 😂

Other names I had were Rex, Caspian, Caspar, Otto, Milo, Felix, Rafferty, Rufus, Toby, Elliot and Cosmo.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 24/04/2024 19:13

Rufus

Kd96 · 24/04/2024 19:19

Not keen.. sounds like someone's about to start a conflab "Ruddy hell did you see what he just..." 😬

Lotus3 · 24/04/2024 19:22

I have specialist taste in names so I won't give a personal opinion. BUT, I would think about how Rudy can be translated into a cruel nickname (Doody, Prudy, Moody)... The fact I thought of some immediately would put me off that name. Kids are mean 🤷‍♀️

Sjh15 · 24/04/2024 21:17

Out of your options I like Jude with the other names xx

Notatthemoment · 24/04/2024 21:20

Congratulations-I love Rudy!
Of your other names I like Rex or Jude
