My husband?s surname is Italian and is difficult to match with any name so pretty much any English name is out. But names I would never use is Brigette or Dorothy because of girls I knew in high school and John or Tom because they are so boring.

JamInMyWellies · 29/03/2008 18:00

Alfred - best friends want it for their first if its a boy.

We settled on Archie and he is such a cheeky one who so matches his name.

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 18:31

Archie must better imo

Felix. Ex's wife has a Felix. Would be weird.

tigana · 29/03/2008 18:37

Beth - would leave girl with initial BJ and I just can't...

Genivieve (sp) - would shorten to Jenny and that is MIL!

Imogen - again could become Jenny.

Zoe - gave it to one of our cats instead

pickie · 29/03/2008 18:39

Evie, Eve or even Eva but DS is called Adam so that would be asking for trouble

popsycal · 29/03/2008 18:39

Could not have a Jack - name of DH's parents' dog and a v famous celebrity from the past

Many names that DH has vetoed.

Also couldn;t have a 'Dick' - not that I particularly want one.....

A question actually...
Actually I will start a new thread

tyaca · 29/03/2008 19:13

patience is fave girls name but our surname is dear -- bit too michael winner

fullamilk · 29/03/2008 19:20

Connor - our freinds stole it!
Shaun - dp hated it
Lucy - we had a boy

Phatmouse · 29/03/2008 19:30

Hunter - because i'm a geordie so would say Hunta and you really should be able to pronounce your own sons name.

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 19:33

Bartholomew and Montgomery
and Jesse

LyraSilvertongue · 29/03/2008 20:33

DS2 was very nearly Jesse.

TwilightSurfer · 29/03/2008 20:38

DD was almost Emory Kate. Considered Jane but couldn't come up with a middle name.

cazboldy · 29/03/2008 20:44

I wanted to call my ds3 Ben(jamin) after my brother and my grandad, but dh refused........

turns out he has a half brother called that, from when his dad had an affair with mil's sister !

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 21:08

now thats a whole other thread

Ceolas · 29/03/2008 21:16

Lots of names because DH is a teacher and they have bad associations for him. Drives me mad every time!

I love Hilary and Valerie for girls but they sound ridiculous with our surname. I tried to convince DH on account of the fact she could change her surname when she got married

mrsmacleod · 29/03/2008 21:18

Laurence, Rory, Henry, Elliot, Otis, Felix, Edith and Frida - already taken by friends and family

Curtis - DH's boss's surname

Milo - think a celeb baby has this but might still be in the running for DS2

Wolfgang or Wolf - my absolute favourite for DS1 but DH hated

Botbot · 29/03/2008 21:25

Anna - surname begins with N so doesn't sound right.

Clover - margarine issues.

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 21:26

mrsmacleod - you need to not be so popular

milo is liv tylers son and also one of the tweenies I think?

OP posts:
Doobydoo · 29/03/2008 22:11

Milo is also my son
