Hello!

I am looking for baby boy names that are 1 or 2 syllables. I would like names that are rare, uncommon or underused! They don’t have to be completely unheard of though.

I really like Emil, Orson and Rue but I can’t use those. I like Evren, Holland and Soren too. Quite like German / Scandi /French names.

would be great to have a nice meaning too.

any ideas? I feel a bit stuck with boys names, I had a few girl ones but we are definitely having a boy 💙

thank you for any suggestions!

I came across Odin the other day. I really like it! It’s the name of a Viking or something I think.

@Rosiiee You’ve never heard of Odin? He’s the Norse god of war and death and is very well known, it would be a bit like naming your child Thor or Zeus

Echobelly · 02/03/2024 13:16

@Rosiiee - Odin is the principal God of Norse mythology. It's a cool name but you probably quite a lot to bestow on a lad! 😉

Rosiiee · 02/03/2024 13:22

@PickledScrump im Aussie so no! Odin was definitely a new name to me 😂

I think Cornish names are quite rare. Uncommon in the rest of the U.K. but not here in Cornwall. Some of my favourites are:

Jago - Cornish form of James
Jory - Cornish form of George
Jowan - Cornish form of John
Lowen - Means joyful
Mawgan - Means praise
Ruan - Means Roman

Your son is extremely unlikely to have another one in his class.

Oran is the anglicised form of Odhran, an Irish name..There are 17 Irish saints with this name, including the patron saint of Waterford! I think it is lovely.
