Hello!

I am looking for baby boy names that are 1 or 2 syllables. I would like names that are rare, uncommon or underused! They don’t have to be completely unheard of though.

I really like Emil, Orson and Rue but I can’t use those. I like Evren, Holland and Soren too. Quite like German / Scandi /French names.

would be great to have a nice meaning too.

any ideas? I feel a bit stuck with boys names, I had a few girl ones but we are definitely having a boy 💙

thank you for any suggestions!

wrong thread, and to be honest, wasn't even intended for mumsnet!

Some of these, whilst lovely, are definitely not underused, or unusual. Arlo, Luca, Lucas, Jude, Mason are top-50 names!

Your son is extremely unlikely to have another one in his class.

@Rosiiee You’ve never heard of Odin? He’s the Norse god of war and death and is very well known, it would be a bit like naming your child Thor or Zeus

There's a bloke called Zeus whom I've seen on at least three TV game shows!

Actually, there's also an older gent who's been on loads of them called Tex, which is quite unusual. I'd place his accent somewhere near South Yorkshire, rather than Deep South, USA, though!

What about Wolfgang? Do you have to be German(ic) to use that name? Or just Ulf?

Absolutely don’t name a boy Odin!

It would be like naming a girl Kali

Why can't you call a girl Kali?

ConfessionsOfAMumDramaQueen · 28/07/2024 22:04

Bodie? Derivative of Scandi/German Boden. Alternative spelling bodhi is sanscrit for enlightenment.
