Live in the uk for context. I feel like if we lived in America it would be fine!
It's just such a sweet name, Huckleberry. But he'd definitely hate me right?

No, it's too awful.

RichPetunia · 18/02/2024 06:13

Bad, bad, bad. You'll be setting your child up for a life of misery.

JustRollWithIt · 18/02/2024 06:38

Best not for his sake. Immediate target for being the centre piece of f* rhymes at school, and when he's a young adult, and well, forever really

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 18/02/2024 07:22

See, this is why I think the UK should have an approved list of names like some other countries do. Then children wouldn't be given ridiculous names like Huck.

It's hormones, you'll look back and laugh. I had a dreadful name lined up for DS, he and are so glad he's not actually called that.

theduchessofspork · 18/02/2024 09:28

I don’t mind it, and I do know one (posh outdoorsy parents).

It’s a strong flavour though. He’d need something like James as a middle name he could adopt if he didn’t share your taste.

Or how about call him Henry but use Hank as a nn?

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 18/02/2024 09:35

It would raise many an eyebrow in America as well ! If you really want it how about Hank plus a sensible middle name, and use Huck as a nickname.

SallyWD · 18/02/2024 09:56

Awful! It sounds like someone clearing their throat.

user1492757084 · 18/02/2024 10:23

Not good.
Do you like Hector or Finn?
Watch Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

FlatWhite2 · 18/02/2024 18:28

I think it’s cute!

SilverBranchGoldenPears · 18/02/2024 18:30

I LOVE IT!!!!

Spirallingdownwards · 18/02/2024 18:32

Are you a MAGA redneck? If not steer clear.

PossumintheHouse · 18/02/2024 18:35

Imagine calling his name out loud at the park or in the schoolyard. Actually do it. Now what do you think?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 18/02/2024 18:38

It's hormones.I wanted Romeo at one point

HauntedPencil · 18/02/2024 18:40

Gosh 😅

Charlieradioalphapapa · 18/02/2024 18:41

Definitely hormones

TheSameClip · 18/02/2024 18:43

WallaceinAnderland · 17/02/2024 22:55

No hucking way!

Lol

For huck’s sake, no.

Topseyt123 · 18/02/2024 18:44

No! He'll get called Fuck all the way through school and beyond.

Don't do it! Imagine your poor child's embarrassment. He won't thank you.

Yup. And God help him if he ever crosses a partner.

He’ll forever be known as Huck the Fuck.

DontWasteMyTime · 18/02/2024 18:47

It's ridiculous to even think of naming a baby Huckleberry 😂

LittleBoPeepHasLostHerShit · 18/02/2024 18:54

He'll be nicknamed 'Dingleberry'. 🤮

alteredimage · 18/02/2024 18:56

Rhett?

Stressybetty · 18/02/2024 18:57

Huxley reminds me of the cartoon Huxley Pig back in the 80's. "A new dream every day Huxley Pig (oink oink) who you gonna be today Huxley Pig? (oink oink) Sam is here to play, food is never far away, a new dream every day Huxley Pig (oink oink)"

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 18/02/2024 18:58

I honestly think parents should have to register the birth and then at 6 months you go back and name them.

DillDanding · 18/02/2024 19:02

Ok for a Labrador, wanky for a child.

Firstclassfart · 18/02/2024 19:20

I've never heard of Huck. First word that came to mind was fuck. Then muck then pluck and phonetically...hook.
Hormones are utter bastards.
I'm applauding satine, from upthread.
Nobody is quite as crackers as my dad though for naming kids. All my half sister's names have the same ending. It's like the Walton's gone wrong.
