I always think names such as Luca,Nico, etc, are odd choices without the assumed parental heritage. Apologies if this doesn't apply to you OP.

Hugo is nicer in any case.

CuteCillian · 13/02/2024 22:34

Hugo

Onelife2024 · 13/02/2024 22:47

I like both, not sure which I prefer! To me, Hugo has more of a posh feel (in a good way). Luca sounds slightly more trendy (to me) - again in a good way. So it depends what sort of vibe you’re going for?

Frazzled2108 · 13/02/2024 22:48

Love Luca, not keen on Hugo.

Hugo

Hugo

Notfeelingitwasworthit · 14/02/2024 06:22

Luca, but I would expect you to be Italian (sorry)

JubileeJumps · 14/02/2024 06:31

Both great names X

TrustPenguins · 14/02/2024 06:32

Luca

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 14/02/2024 06:32

I’m really not a fan of Hugo. I think Luca is much better.

Nofilteritwonthelp · 14/02/2024 06:41

Hate Hugo, it is so overused and not even a nice name. Every second kid seems to have that name. It's the name of an old man or a dog

otherwayup · 14/02/2024 06:44

I think Luca is a beautiful name, it's soft but strong sounding and is a little bit unusual but also not a name a child would be embarrassed by as a teen!

Hugo makes me of horrible Tory types, maybe just my experience!

otherwayup · 14/02/2024 06:45

*think!

AcridAndStanLee · 14/02/2024 06:45

To me, Hugo is overly posh. Reeks of hoity toity, I'm better than you.

AmusedMaker · 14/02/2024 06:57

Luca 100%

SorrowsPrayers · 14/02/2024 06:59

Love Hugo...Luca is awful!

youmustrememberthis · 14/02/2024 07:02

Sorry but Hugo is not great, agree with comments others have made about its connotations. Luca is the best of the two you've chosen in my opinion.

JennyGracexx · 14/02/2024 07:05

Luca 😍 was always top of my list of boys names

BlindurErBóklausMaður · 14/02/2024 07:06

Hugo sounds very posh. Luca definitely doesn't, unless, as above, you're Italian.
It was the top boys' name for some years here (Italy) and there are about 4 in every secondary class. It's dropped in popularity a bit in recent years.

GoodVibesHere · 14/02/2024 07:11

They are very different names. I can see why you are stuck between the two as they have quite opposing vibes.

Hugo is posh/classic, Luca is 'lighter' and more trendy.

Have you picked a middle name?

Wictc · 14/02/2024 07:11

Hugo has more dog name connotations than ‘posh’ name where I live. I’d go for Luca for that reason.

MaggieFS · 14/02/2024 07:13

Both lovely.

Huge is the more classic.
Luca is the more 'of the moment' unless you're Italian

pinkdelight · 14/02/2024 07:21

Much prefer Luca. Hugo feels like a rugby toff to me. Or a dog.

Mouthfulofquiz · 14/02/2024 07:34

I think you need to be ‘we have a holiday home in the south of France’ level of posh as a minimum to pull off these names!
