What about a first name which can also be a surname to kind of offset having a first name for a surname if that makes any sense!!??

e.g., Meredith Rose
Morgan Rose
Elliott Rose
Cameron Rose

I’m sure people will be able to think of more!
For what it’s worth I think it’s a brilliant surname.

I’m a Rose by birth. It’s a great surname and goes with so many names! Although you do spend your life explaining it’s definitely your surname 🙄

My relatives:
Stephen Rose
Bill (William) Rose
Mark Rose
Daniel Rose
John Rose
Brandon Rose
Brodie Rose
Rory Rose

Katie Rose
Catherina Rose
Cassie Rose
Lianne Rose
Doris Rose
Maria Rose
Emmaline Rose
Darcey Rose
Seren Rose (my favourite after Lianne)

I came on to say the opposite to this. If you call them Blair Rose people will assume first name Rose. They'll spend their whole lives correcting people. It'll be annoying.

I agree with PPs that a longer name is better for a shorter surname - just generally but also so people don't think the name is hyphenated with Rose. Alexandra is a great strong name to go with something more feminine.

That's a cool surname. There's an actress in Ireland called Hilary Rose and a UK journalist too, I've always thought it has a great ring to it.

My daughter is Abigail Rose. It's a fabulous name!
@BeaRF75 you forgot David

My comment is very helpful I'm afraid but there's some gorgeous ideas on this thread

Waves to all the fellow Roses on the thread before I name change 👋

No one has mentioned our daughters name -

Layla Rose.

That’s lovely @5thCommandment Did you give her a middle name.

If we had a daughter she would have been Annalise Rose and then (our two syllable surname) Would have liked to have honoured my family.

Although I did adopt Rose as my middle name when I got married

booktokbear · 06/02/2024 20:39

Martha Rose

RuthW · 06/02/2024 20:40

Definitely not one that makes sense reversed like
Oliver Rose
Blake Rose
William Rose
Blaire Rose

Don't forget Rose has a double meaning - think verb!

Lilith Rose
Imogen Rose
Boudicca Rose
Esther Rose
Judith Rose
Hannah Rose
Elizabeth Rose
Mary Rose
Catherine Rose
Anne Rose

A first name signalling feminine power and strength is quite in keeping :)

I love all of these.

Elodie and Oliver.

I rather loke the double Ro of Robert Rose. Could be Bert or Berty too.

Blair in my mind is always followed by Witch Project.

Soontobe60 · 06/02/2024 20:46

Anastasia - Annie
Elizabeth - Lizzy

Edward - Eddie / Teddy
Alexander - Alex

14521hey · 06/02/2024 20:49

Jo Rose
Joanna | Jonah

MaloneMeadow · 06/02/2024 21:11

Out of your girls list I really only like Harriet & Francesca - lovely, strong names. Blair is very nice too but blends in with Rose a bit too much in my opinion

Love Oliver but again the ‘r’ ending doesn’t really work with Rose. Isaac & Finn are both quite nice. I agree with you on Jack - too Titanic with your surname

mathanxiety · 06/02/2024 21:15

Penelope

Isaac

Temporaryname158 · 06/02/2024 21:15

I went to school with a girl who married a Rose, her name is Rhianna

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 06/02/2024 21:17

I agree, that's why I'd go with Francesca or William. Molly Rose or Billie Rose sound like ship names IMO.
