Twins Summer and May sounds ok until you realise their surname

Riverlee · 19/01/2024 18:37

Many moons ago, met a news reporter called Tulip.

DemBonesDemBones · 19/01/2024 18:39

@banjocat no you didn't. Why is there always one like you to ruin threads like this?!

Viviennemary · 19/01/2024 18:42

No I've never come across any of these way out names. I must only know boring folk.

Ajjxx · 19/01/2024 19:01

Pontin 🤣

turbonerd · 19/01/2024 19:03

In Scandinavia you have lots of Bear, Raven, Storm, Odin, Hawk and Falcon. And Day and Stone as men’s name. Often in combination with other Norse names. «Boring» here, but unusual in the rest of Europe and the English speaking world.
Thor (Tor) is VERY usual.

GreyhpundGirl · 19/01/2024 19:03

Lucifer. Yes really.

turbonerd · 19/01/2024 19:04

I knew a Lucifer too.

GenevièveSapha · 19/01/2024 19:07

My work colleague is 'Sherlock'...

SerafinasGoose · 19/01/2024 17:47

There's a builder called 'Quickfall' out there somewhere.

Better still is the firm of lawyers called 'Wright Hassall & Co!'

Oh yes! And there is, or was, a firm of estate agents called 'Doolittle and Dalley'.

I knew a South African woman whose son was called Wayne. However, she used to call him Wanky.

I was at school with a Wayne Key. I kid you not! You'd think his parents would have thought that one through a little better.

(I wonder if his mum was called Anne ...)

OldTinHat · 19/01/2024 19:11

Buster.

And that seems tame going by this crazy name list!

Spendonsend · 19/01/2024 19:12

I see a lot of kids in my work, and have encountered:
Loki (one group had two Lokis!)
Ka5pian
Chyna and Indya (sisters)
Beau (girl)
Neveah (there was quite a spate of them in the 1990s)
Cosmo

Surely that’s not true. You can’t have numbers in names?

Sanabria2 · 19/01/2024 19:18

I worked with a Lovely

Jessforless · 19/01/2024 19:18

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone with a name that would top anything in this thread, my daughter has an Oceana in her class but probably not that out there!

Fluffyhoglets · 19/01/2024 19:19

Lucky Boy

Hubblebubble · 19/01/2024 19:21

zippygiggletush · 19/01/2024 19:25

Fabulousdahlink · 19/01/2024 19:25

I once taught a Dwayne Pipe, back in the early 90's when I first started teaching.

Snowdogsmitten · 19/01/2024 19:27
