I have a girlfriend with a maximus, he came in at a whopping 10lb 2

I love this! Max was very popular over here about 15 years ago but it's sort of died down a bit now now but I think it's a lovely name & especially with that back story!

WickedSerious · 19/01/2024 15:07

Eviffa.

I met a child called La-a. With that spelling. Pronounced Ladasha.

I kid you not - this was in a professional capacity and that was how her name was written on her records.

I still can't quite believe it!

Wow! 🤣

That's probably what happened.

I'm surprised people are getting so worked up about this and calling me a liar. I don't really mind, just stating my experience, people can believe or not.

I had no idea it would blow up this much or be so controversial (I just logged on to see 15 notifications from this thread!)- I didn't even know about the whole urban myth thing.

Ok, give us the full story then. Surely someone else would know this child. Where was she from? How did you meet her?

SausageRollsWithMustard · 19/01/2024 15:11

I taught in Asia where some children would choose an 'English' name to use at school.

There were lots of standard names, like Kelly, Nicole, Eddy, Mike, Kitty etc, but I also had Lion King in my class. 😁

Was the baby Indian at all? Avatar is an Indian word and a normal name for many Indians.

Hitler never claimed to be a Nazi - apparently it was a pejorative nickname for Catholic Germans for whom Ignaz was a common name, shortened to 'nazi.

I think you will find nazi comes from Nazionalsozialist...just saying.

Yogagrandmum · 19/01/2024 15:13

My mam had a cousin called Kitchener- he was known as Kit.

A girl called Halfpenny because her mother liked the name (pronounced haypenny)

Woman I used to work with had a GDD called Lemony. I really liked it.

When suffering from pregnancy hormone whackiness I thought of Temperance if DS2 was a girl. Considering DH is a bit of a wine snob buff that would have raised eyebrows.

I know someone who's daughter is called Temperance Loveday, and I think its the most beautiful name in the world!

As I said, I'm really not that invested that I am going to out my location and career on the internet 😂I shared my experience and it makes absolutely no odds to me whether random posters on the internet believe me - I really don't mind. Totally up to you 🎩

BlackeyedSusan · 19/01/2024 15:16

Pearl. Just because it was out of it's time (90s) and still in old lady territory. I find some of the new baby name trends strange as I remember old ladies/men with those names. Just as George and Henry were considered strange names when I was a teen in the 80s but fashionable a few years later.

I once had a Jah-Lion which I thought was unusual, but after a couple of years working in the Torres Strait realised Jah is a common prefix for many boys names which might be unusual int the UK Jahsyrius, Jahlee, Jahmalian, Jahmeh, Jahwah

Years ago I knew a someone who had a perfectly run-of-the-mill name but her sisters were called Sorrel and Perdita.

Went to school with a Tarrell (girl) and a Tarn (boy).
