Old, Vintage Name Suggestions

Hi all

Having a baby, due April 2023, and gender is a surprise. I love old vintage names. Could you suggest any as I'm really struggling to narrow it down?

Some ideas:
Boys - Hugo, Otto, Caspar, Reuben, Wilfred (Wilf),
Girls - Evelyn, Indie/India, Henrietta (Ettie), Audrey, Aubrey, Elodie, Everly

Eggbeard gets my vote!

Wilfred or Etta. Don't like Henrietta and none of your other names are 'vintage'.

Not Indie or India, they're not vintage, and not particularly nice.

India was used as a woman's name in the 1800s. That's pretty vintage.

I do like Victor.

Ruth
Sadie
Edmund
Robert

@LaurieStrode , but that was when India was part of the British Empire.

Wilfred and Alice if I had to narrow it down. Alfred must be due a comeback.
Both popular in the Victorian period. Hugo and Leo seem a bit too popular now.

Alfred and Alfie have been back for ages

NachosAndCheese · 02/01/2024 15:31

Alfie is one of the most popular boys names there is.

Well it must have been very rare.

Maireas · 02/01/2024 15:41

Alfie is very, very common in schools - however, I've never taught an Alfred!

Ariadne (female)

Interesting how 'vintage' is interpreted.

Will the name suit a baby, hormonal teenager and a high court judge. If yes to all three, it's a good name!
