Old, Vintage Name Suggestions

Hi all

Having a baby, due April 2023, and gender is a surprise. I love old vintage names. Could you suggest any as I'm really struggling to narrow it down?

Some ideas:
Boys - Hugo, Otto, Caspar, Reuben, Wilfred (Wilf),
Girls - Evelyn, Indie/India, Henrietta (Ettie), Audrey, Aubrey, Elodie, Everly

These are quite a mixed bag - as in different vintages

I like all your boys names other than Otto. They are all quite popular, especially Reuben.

I like Henrietta and quite like Audrey. Evelyn is great but along with Eve/Evie/Eva/Ava it really is done to death.
Elodie will be Ellie and there are a zillion of them. Aubrey is traditionally a man’s name. There is nothing traditional about Everly

Maybe..

Jocelyn, Adeline, Olwen, Gwendoline, Caroline, Verity, Cecily, Jessamy, Felicity, Penelope, Leonora, Victoria (Vita), Lydia

Ernest, Arnold, Cedric, Victor, Amos, Hector, Laurence. might be less common options for boys

lol at your list! Do you have child already? If not I suggest that you practice calling these names out in different ways. Some of them sound good written down but not said out loud a hundred times a day. Then the other thing is that how pretentious of a name are you after? Those are pretty much all up there.

I think your version of vintage isn’t in line with actual vintage names?
I like Iris, Enid, Dorothy, Lydia for girls and Arthur, George, William for boys

Some of those girls' names you have listed are not vintage at all, like Elodie (brought from France in recent years) and Everley (don't like that one at all), and Aubrey used to be used for boys only so as a name for girls it is definitely not vintage!

But AuDrey is both lovely and vintage, or how about Sylvia, Rosalind or Rosemary?

Indie too, extremely unvintage, I can tell you that it was unheard of a few years ago. I really dislike it tbh.

@Pemba i liked indie as a nickname for Indiana jones ‘indie indie!’ But then I met a stripper called indie, my friend named her little boy indie and then you see online about indie films and indie shops and I’ve really come to dislike it
