Hi MNers, sister to Lucy due in a few months and we finally have a shortlist both I and DH love:

  • Elsa
  • Olivia
  • Hazel
  • Ariane

Which one is your favourite and why? Last name is short and common (think Jones).

Thanks

Olivia is a beautiful name, but very common

bloodyeffinnora · 03/01/2024 18:26

esme is lovely

Olivia is my favourite from your list. I like Livi for short.
Hazel is nice too. Elsa reminds me of Frozen.

if i had to pick 1 it would be hazel but not overly keen. Elsa-frozen 🤮 olivia- too common and ariane- ariana grande

AngelaBB · 03/01/2024 20:56

I love Hazel, different without being silly. I also like Violet.

Esme is very nice. I suggested it for Dd but Dh had never heard of it and insisted I had made it up?!

Anametolove · 04/01/2024 09:06

Haha @TheaBrandt definitelt not made up! Unheard of where I am (France) but it is an English name derived from the Old French "aimée", meaning "loved". Hence why we picked it, for the nod to my country. :)

@TheaBrandt how old is your Dd? Esme is very popular, there’s loads in my DDs year and below. There’s always the es-may vs es-me dispute on here whenever it’s suggested.
