Help me pick a girls name

Hi MNers, sister to Lucy due in a few months and we finally have a shortlist both I and DH love:

• Elsa
• Olivia
• Hazel
• Ariane

Which one is your favourite and why? Last name is short and common (think Jones).

The nicest is Olivia but it has been overused for a long time.
Hazel and Elsa are ok. Elsa a bit Frozen.
Ariane looks made up. Marianne is better.

Olivia or Elsa - both popular but lovely and go with Lucy

Hazel always sounds harsh to me, and Ariane is a bit Disney

I think Hazel and Elsa are a bit plain compared to Lucy. Marianne isn't my favourite name but I feel it's of a similar vibe to Lucy, and a lot classier than Ariane

Anna would go better than Elsa.

My 5 month old daughter is called Ellia (pronounced Ell-ee-ah) so kind of similar to Elsa but not as common. I think it's beautiful 😊

Agree - Hazel is lovely and you rarely hear it these days. There is a little girl about 10 who I meet with her mum and dog on dog walks who is called Hazel.

When I heard found out her name I thought how refreshing is was not to meet yet another "Willow".*

Also agree with @Terningbay 's opinion on the other names, too.

One of my family names is Elza, which is pronounced with a zz sound rather than ss - would that work?

I don’t get the love for Hazel at all. To me it’s dated and frumpy.

Olivia is so popular.

Lucy is such a simple lovely classic.

Instead of Hazel, which I think is the best option of the bunch, what about

1.Olivia, such a beautiful name although it's been over popular for a few years now, which it seems is putting you off. Olive, though obviously from the same root strangely has a quite different frumpy vibe. Livia, Lydia or Octavia are similar lovely names.

2.Ariane is elegant, seems you've gone off it though. There is no connection to 'aryan', sorry but that's daft. Ariana? Ariella? Arabella?

3.Elsa is absolutely fine, Eloise or Elise would be lovely.

4.Hazel, sorry, to me it still seems a bit frumpy. Heather?

The problem with Hazel is it can sound really ugly in quite a few accents. A lot of people drop Hs which you do have to be aware of with H names. Then the ‘zel’ at the end can end up rhyming with dull rather than bell. Eh-Zull.

Also would prefer Ellie to Elsa... My 3 year old girl adores Frozen and the name is worn to death in our household 🤣🤣

I like Hazel. Elsa is too similar to a bunch of other very popular names, and Olivia is done to death and so boring.

Hazel gets my vote! Beautiful name and will go nicely with Lucy.

Love Hazel and it goes nicely with Lucy, not keen on the others. The frozen reference would bother me, What about Ailsa instead of Elsa?
