Help me pick a girls name

Hi MNers, sister to Lucy due in a few months and we finally have a shortlist both I and DH love:

• Elsa
• Olivia
• Hazel
• Ariane

Which one is your favourite and why? Last name is short and common (think Jones).

Hazel is lovely and it compliments Lucy. Olivia is too popular, Elsa will be too busy building snowmen and the other one sounds like my colleague talking about her daughter called Rianne: our Rianne but think northern!

I've always loved the name Hazel.

I remember meeting a girl named Hazel when I was a child and I thought it was such a great name.

I think Hazel is really lovely, and my favourite of those four, but I would second the other suggestions of Olive as an alternative to Olivia - way less ‘done’ and I think it’s timeless

I’d go with Elsa, it’s lovely and I think the main frozen link has passed. Yes there’s another coming out but the huge frozen thing was 10 years ago now. When the second one came out it wasn’t as big. Elsa sounds lovely with Lucy and isn’t over used. I don’t think kids would make any more of a link to a Disney movie than a child named Anna or Belle

Esme is lovely and I think nicer than your original list.

Hazel - okay
Ariane - the best one because it is classy like Lucy. Also I like a longer first name with a short surname.

Not on your list, but…. Eliza? Nicer than Elsa and 3 syllables rather than 2 so bit different w Lucy

I also like Olivia but as you and others have said very popular. Our daughter's middle name is Olive so that could be a suggestion Hazel Olive `Jones' sounds nice together I think 😊

Elsa is nice if you forget about frozen, but I wouldn't be able to!

The name Hazel is such a lovely name. Shame it was ruined for me by two different adult Hazel’s I knew. Both were absolute bitches!

Esme is really pretty! Good choice!

Both have a letter L, and both have a vintage feel to them, yet they're not matchy.

They're all nice, prefer Elsie and Ella to Elsa personally. Hazel stood out to me but Olivia has always been beautiful to me and timeless. Ariane is nice too and a lot less common x

Elsa is lovely but, you now, Frozen - that's all I'd associate it with.

Olivia - again lovely name but intensely popular, I believe it has been top baby girl name many times in the last few years, but maybe you don't mind that, it's popular because it is lovely!

Hazel makes me think of a Mrs Trunchbull type character, harsh, unfriendly, not approachable, I have no idea why I think this though!

Ariane is gorgeous, I really really like that one.

I really like Olivia shortened to Liv

I love Hazel...its not a common name and is so pretty
