Hi,

desperetely need help my brain has completed overloaded with names now having gone through the top 1000. Husband has vetoed all of my top 30 😭so left with these back up ones. However, have now spent so long debating names that I just don’t feel anything for any of them anymore and dd due in 3 days.

Possible names that we have not both vetoed are

Maeve
Flora
Cecily
Tessa
Clementine
Faye
Arabella
Anna
Melody
Imogen
Oriana
Meredith
Serena
Allanah
Allegra
Camilla
Alice

My favourites of your list are Anna, Oriana & Tessa. I dislike none of them which is impressive!

AmyandPhilipfan · 08/11/2023 23:57

What's your number 1 choice? Whether husband agrees or not. After watching me give birth (and I had a relatively easy birth) my husband just said 'so shall we call her (my favourite name that he had always said no to) then?' And so I got my first choice! So don't necessarily assume that he'll veto it once he's seen you go through the trauma of birth!

suntannedsnowballs · 08/11/2023 23:58

Allegra 😍

RomeoMcFlourish · 08/11/2023 23:59

Tessa. The Tessa’s I’ve known have been sweet, kind, artistic types, I have a soft spot for this name. If it had worked better with our surname I would have used it.

Ryanstartedthefire2 · 08/11/2023 23:59

They're all nice! Tessa is my favourite. I've never met a Tessa.

WeDidntHaveWaterBottlesInThe80s · 08/11/2023 23:59

Of those, I would nix:

Arabella (too horsey, harsh sound)
Allegra (ditto)
Maeve (ugly sound)
Melody (try-hard)
Oriana (ditto)
Allanah (stripper vibe)

Does that help narrow it down?

thecatinthetwat · 09/11/2023 00:00

Love:
maeve
meredith
clementine

Irritatedandfedup · 09/11/2023 00:00

Tessa and Arrabella
Quite like Imogen and Serena

SisterMichaelsHabit · 09/11/2023 00:00

Imogen, Faye, Alice, Anna.

I'd bin anything "clunky" like Allegra or Oriana because you're going to be saying your baby's name a lot so it should be easy to say quickly when you need her to listen.

nocoolnamesleft · 09/11/2023 00:01

Favourites: Alice, Anna, Imogen.

Smartiepants79 · 09/11/2023 00:02

I too love Tessa.
Dislike camilla and allanah

SkaneTos · 09/11/2023 00:04

Your husband vetoed 30 names that you like!?

minipie · 09/11/2023 00:05

Maeve - keep
Flora - bin (but maybe Freya?)
Cecily - keep - favourite
Tessa - keep
Clementine - bin
Faye - bin
Arabella - bin
Anna - keep
Melody - keep - favourite
Imogen - keep
Oriana - bin
Meredith - bin
Serena - keep - favourite
Allanah - bin
Allegra - bin
Camilla - bin
Alice - keep

rubydoobydoo · 09/11/2023 00:32

I would bin Clementine, Imogen, Serena, Meredith and Camilla.

Melody and Tessa are my favourites

Flora and Faye are a bit... feeble sounding.

Anna and Alice are classic and nice but very safe choices.

Not sure about Maeve and Cecily but they could grow on me!

Allegra and Allanah have a similar feel - I quite like both but Alannah is a better spelling.

Not sure about Oriana - it's not horrible, never come across it before.

mandydandy · 09/11/2023 00:42

Only ones I'm less keen on are Maeve and Allanah. Faye doesn't work too well in North east Scotland as we would say "I'm fae Aiberdeen"
The rest are lovely.
I'd check the initials don't spell something awful and personally I like everyone to have their own first initial so if a letter comes for A Smith, there is only one A Smith. I know others don't mind that or actually want all the same but it was something I considered.

BoleynMemories13 · 09/11/2023 06:22

Serena is fabulous and rarely used. I also love Alice which is an ultimate classic, although obviously much more popular (not sure if that would both you?).

Anna, Imogen, Tessa and Flora are ok.

The others aren't my style at all. I've never understood the current popularity of Maeve. It's just Dave with an M. Not a nice sound.

MelsMoneyTree · 09/11/2023 06:51

Imogen or Maeve. Although I agree with a PP about liking Freya too.

Roselilly36 · 09/11/2023 06:58

I like Tessa best from that list. I also like Laura, Lucy and Felicity, if
I had had a girl. Many congratulations OP. You may decide on a name once you meet her. Flowers

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/11/2023 07:10

I would keep:
Maeve
Flora
Cecily
Tessa
Imogen
Oriana

Options I'd consider from them:

Flora Maeve
Cecily Flora
Imogen Tessa
Oriana Maeve

Of those I think my favourites are Cecily Flora and Imogen Tessa.

I'd also offer up Lydia, Ingrid and Rosalind for your consideration.

Mangotango39 · 09/11/2023 07:14

Favs: Meave , Imogen

Oriana sounds like a nightmare for someone to say and spell

Mazuslongtoenail · 09/11/2023 07:16

Meredith is beautiful. Merry for short 😍

kezzykicks · 09/11/2023 07:16

They're all very pretty but love Flora, Cecily and Anna the most. If it was Menai would go with Flora
