Are my pregnant hormones making me insane? Is Enid cute but strong?

My lovely, sweet nanna was called Enid so it is a firm favourite of mine.
I heard a little girl called Enid at the park a few years ago and thought it was lovely 😊❤️

onlyconnect · 05/10/2023 21:10

Lovely!

ReeseWitherfork · 05/10/2023 21:11

I don’t always get the granny chic names but I think the one is lovely.

WanderingWitches · 05/10/2023 21:12

I really don't like it, sorry

Aquamarine1029 · 05/10/2023 21:13

Sorry, it's just ugly.

Blinkityblonk · 05/10/2023 21:15

Enid is a no from me, but then most of the granny chic names don't appeal to me, I don't think the grannies even liked them (my granny hated her name that has appeared on here more than once).

PickledScrump · 05/10/2023 21:20

Depends how you’re saying it. The Welsh way as eh-nid or the anglicised ee-nid ?

Weefreetiffany · 05/10/2023 21:23

enid blyton association for me. But it always looks spelt wrong some how. And spells “dine” backwards. I’m a bit on the fence

JMSA · 05/10/2023 21:24

Just no! It's not only an old lady name. It's an ugly name for an old lady.

FunnyFox · 05/10/2023 21:27

If you want to call your child by any name, it's beautiful. Just do it. People are silly and prejudiced, names (foolishly) come in and out of fashion. Who cares? If you like the name go ahead.

PurpleChrayne · 05/10/2023 21:28

The -nid part is disgusting.

LizardOfOz · 05/10/2023 21:28

It's a bit spiky

DutchCowgirl · 05/10/2023 21:28

Wednesday’s roommate was Enid in the Netflix series. I suppose it will get more popular because of that? I really liked her!

Maplestars · 05/10/2023 21:28

I like it

puddingandsun · 05/10/2023 21:31

I thought of a cat...
Is the cat in Hey Dugee called Enid?

Lovely but could also be borin' snorin'?

RedToothBrush · 05/10/2023 21:32

Enid makes me think of not just Blyton but also the worst witch, willowthewisp with the Enid, Mildred, Maud, Evil Edna drab name vibe. Thats the vibe they gave me even age 10.

I do know an Ena, and I think that's much more of the time and has a similar tone but without the drab feeling. Much better alternative to me.

FortunataTagnips · 05/10/2023 21:34

Horrible. It’s the “nid” bit.

I like it

EvlisPersley · 05/10/2023 21:40

Much prefer Edie or Evie - deffo not Enid it’s the “Nid” makes is sound too “hard”

mummabubs · 05/10/2023 21:47

I know two young Enids, both adorable. 😊

Daisybuttercup12345 · 05/10/2023 21:51

Enid Blyton.
Ugly sounding name to me.

ZinniaB · 05/10/2023 22:04

If you love it, do it. It doesn’t really matter what you name a child, the name becomes the bearer and the bearer becomes the name, particularly if the name is unusual. A beautiful, kind and chic Enid? Gorgeous and memorable. Far more so than Edie IMO - and Nid is surely better than Die.

Whatisityoucantface · 05/10/2023 22:07

I know two babies called this. One the Welsh pronunciation (it is a Welsh name and eh-nid is the way it is said) and one English pronunciation ee-nid. . I would automatically say ee-nid because I’m English. I think it’s making a stealth comeback but isn’t too obviously popular atm. If you love it, go for it!
