Thoughts on Matthew for DS ? It doesn't seem to be too popular at the moment but I think it would sound very fresh on a little boy.

Classic and underused.

Like it. Matt is nice too.

Cryingbutstilltrying · 21/09/2023 00:13

Always loved it, lots of friends in their 40s now called Matt tho so might seem a bit weird to them! It’s a great name.

Mountaindews · 21/09/2023 08:19

FayCarew · 21/09/2023 11:48

lizzy8230 · 21/09/2023 15:36

Beautiful name; even more beautiful meaning

Flev · 21/09/2023 15:36

I love it, it would have been what we called DD if she'd been a boy.

NotFastButFurious · 21/09/2023 18:35

Love it! Classic and suits all age groups.

itsmyp4rty · 21/09/2023 18:40

Classic and lovely.

Missingpresumedhidden · 21/09/2023 18:46

I've got one - he's 12. We have met a few other young Matthews so it doesn't feel out of date like Gary/Jason etc but they aren't 10 a penny either. Mine loves that there are actors/sports stars/ musicians/ computer game makers that have 'his' name.

Violet1988 · 21/09/2023 18:47

I have a Matthew who is 7, so I love it.

addicteetopawpatrol · 21/09/2023 18:54

DisforDarkChocolate · 21/09/2023 18:57

It's a wonderful name and you won't come across loads.

BaronessBomburst · 21/09/2023 18:58

I really like the name.

Peridot1 · 21/09/2023 18:58

I knew someone would say it’s dull!

I like it. Mine prefers to be called Matt these days. He’s 22.

WeneedSamVimesonthecase · 21/09/2023 19:02

Matthews are lovely. I should know, I married one.

LittleGreenDuck · 21/09/2023 19:04

I know two 14 year old Matthews and lots in their 40s! Perfectly good name.

breadwidow · 21/09/2023 19:06

My younger brother's name - he's 38. Was quite common when we were kids - he had a lot of school friends called Matthew/matt - but doesn't seem to be now so it's win win, classic but your DS won't be one amongst many.

moggle · 21/09/2023 19:10

We have one, he’s 5 now. It was always my very favourite name since young childhood, knew so many Matthew’s / matts growing up and by some quirk of the odds they were without fail all really lovely! Not tons of young Matthews around we find although there is another in his reception intake of 4 kids! He was Matty for a while as a toddler thanks to his twin brother calling him that and we followed suit, but he decided he wanted to go back to Matthew when he started school even though he has to use his surname letter to differentiate the two of them :)

archimedesconstant · 21/09/2023 19:14

I like it but know so many in their late 20s-early 30s. I went to school in the 90s/2000s and every other boy seemed to be Matt!

I agree it would probably be more unusual on a new baby though, something different from all the baby Teddy/Archie/Theo’s etc

MadKittenWoman · 21/09/2023 19:34

I have a 23-year-old Matthew. Lovely, classic name.

strawberry2017 · 21/09/2023 19:46

I seriously considered it for my 3 year old, think it's a lovely name
