Hannah, Natalie, Hailey, Nina, Gemma, Bianca, Eva, Jenna, Lara, Jessica

So I’ve narrowed down my very long list to this top 10. I would like to hear your personal impressions on these names and which ones should be crossed off of the list and reasons why. Are these names classic? I’m really indecisive about names and I’d really appreciate your opinions. I would like the get to a solid top 5 or 3 after reading these comments. So tell me which ones are your favorite and which ones not so much. - OP

I like the best;
Hannah
Natalie
Jenna
Jessica

I dont like Bianca or Lara at all sorry.

Username134 · 06/09/2023 06:01

Also I haven’t got any middle names yet as I’m still trying to decide on first name.

Hannah, - bit dated but ok Natalie, - dated but ok Hailey, - dated Nina, - like this one! Gemma, - so dated Bianca, - no Eva, - nice but boring Jenna, - ok, dated Lara, - ok Jessica - ok

your names aren't 'Classic' they are 80s/90s. Maybe I'm old enough that they are not just dated but 'old fashioned' enough to be trendy! Eva is way too popular now. Nina is genuinely really nice. Sorry to pee on your name choices but those are my impressions.

NailyDale · 06/09/2023 06:04

Nina is definitely the best one. Go with that.

Username134 · 06/09/2023 06:08

@AuntieEsther Oooh interesting, what are some Classic names that you love then?

OP posts:
Mumofgirls2017 · 06/09/2023 06:13

Eva or Nina.

I find Hannah and Jessica boring and the rest dated sorry!

IggyAce · 06/09/2023 06:15

Hannah: ok a bit boring

Natalie:hate this but I was bullied by a Natalie at school.

Hailey: Hayley is a better spelling but I’m not a fan.

Nina: love this

Gemma: dated

Bianca: Ricckky eastenders vibes, so I wouldn’t choose it.

Eva: like but it’s popular.

Jenna: no

Lara: love this

Jessica: hate again due to a childhood bully.

@Mumofgirls2017 i find your honest feedback very helpful so no need to apologize. 💜

Smittenkitchen · 06/09/2023 06:18

For me they mostly sound very 80's/90's, I agree with PP.
I prefer Lara, Jenna and Nina because they have less of that vibe.

rainbowstardrops · 06/09/2023 06:19

I quite like Jenna and Eva.

I prefer Hallie to Hailey and Luna to Lara.

The others are quite dated I think.

RosesAndHellebores · 06/09/2023 06:21

Classic names:

Anna
Alice
Eliza
Elizabeth
Helena

marshmallowfinder · 06/09/2023 06:36

Natalie, Nina and Lara are lovely. Not so the others.

GrinAndVomit · 06/09/2023 06:39

This reads like my brownies register from 1994

what do you guys think about Clara or Hazel?

Nina seems to be a top contender I see. Do you have any middle name suggestions in mind?

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 06/09/2023 06:53

I think Nina sounds fresh and classic, while many of the others (not all) do just feel like girls I grew up with so a bit dated perhaps.

Agree that typical classic names are more along the lines of Elizabeth, Alexandra, Eleanor, Helen, Sarah, etc.

I love Hazel OP, it and Nina are my faves here. I can't abide Clara for some reason but it's quite well liked around here!

MargotBamborough · 06/09/2023 07:10

Interesting list, OP. It comes across as a little 80s/90s to me (apart from Eva, which is pretty current) but not in a bad way.

I would say the most classic name on this list is Hannah. You could also consider Anna, which is a variant on the same name.

I have a soft spot for Natalie. It was the name of my grandmother and my close friend at school and I just think it's really pretty.

My favourites from your list are Natalie, Hannah, Nina and Lara.

GrinAndVomit · 06/09/2023 07:10

Clara and Hazel are classic names. Both beautiful and timeless

WaltzingWaters · 06/09/2023 07:17

Nina or Eva (I prefer Eva, it’s beautiful, just quite popular at the moment).

A hard no on Bianca. The rest are okay, just a bit ‘bleh’. All very common in 80’s/90’s so names I’ve grown up with and heard LOADS (My name is amongst them!).

Sunshineclouds11 · 06/09/2023 07:19

Nina
Prefer Jenner
Jessica

Angie147836 · 06/09/2023 07:20

They're not classic, they're very 90s.
Nina stands out to me as the nicest / most current. Maybe Lara too. I really dislike most of the others.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 06/09/2023 07:29

I like Hannah, Natalie (or Natalia?), Jenna (I know one that is short for Genevieve but I've always thought that's a hard name for a child to spell!),
Lara is ok, Nina is ok, don't like Bianca (yes to the Eastenders reference above, look it up if you don't know it!)
I really like Clara, slightly different. Oh and my car is called Clara after 'Long distance Clara' from Pigeon Street....
Again I was at school in the 80's and many of these were popular then.
I like girls names that end in A, it gives it a nice sound.

booktokbear · 06/09/2023 07:31

I have always loved the names Hannah and Natalie (though I grew up in the ear they were v popular)

Hannah is definitely a classic name imo.

Sleepnplay · 06/09/2023 07:32

Another vote for Nina here, lovely! I also really like Hazel. Hannah from your list I would consider a classic and would be my 3rd choice.

VIPNotReally · 06/09/2023 07:34

Jenna and Nina.
For me the rest are slightly dull.
Jenna is really cute, I've only ever known one that I went to primary school with! many many decades ago

ShoesoftheWorld · 06/09/2023 07:35

Clara's brilliant - far and away your best suggestion.

From your list I like Hannah and Nina. The rest are pretty 80s/90s (counting Hailey in that, though the spelling back then was Hayley) and not terribly nice with it tbh ('nice' 80s/90s IMO would be Laura, Rebecca, Rachel, Claire, Sarah). Lara is OK but I live in a country where you can't move for Laras so have got a bit tired of it.
