We chose to name our son Aladdin.
Ala ad din but we wanted something unique to us and opted for Aladdin . We thought it was cute and We both loved this variation .
Dhs mother refuses to call him this " after a disney character" and it telling people we called him Alan. His name is not Alan.
I've had people send congratulations messages to me , hubby and saying how Alan is beautiful. Its really annoying me now

This has got to be a wind up surely, you called your boy Alladin 🙄 what response did you expect to get from people. Poor lad is going to get eye rolls for the rest of his life isn't he!

Do you really think this would be much associated with the Disney character?
We felt like Ala ad din just wasn't fitting so removed the extra A so changed it to Aladdin.
His middle name is Imad.
Is this really that bad ? I didn't think it would get so much hate from family

Alan is, to be fair, the exact opposite of Aladdin, as names go.

I'm sorry, perhaps it's because I'm a Scot but it just Disney work for me.

How many djinns and tonics had you had when you came up with Aladdin?

The ONLY thing it’s associated with is the Disney character. No different to calling a child Pinocchio or a little girl Cinderella.

If I was your MIL I’d also be mortified saying they have called the baby Aladdin. Alan is no better though.

One is a fictional child’s character and the other is a 70 year old retired builder.

Ala ad din didn't feel right to us, to put it together , we wanted a one word name and Alaaddin didn't look right so we removed the extra a and came up with Aladdin

It's associated with David Bowie too - Aladdin Sane. Also not good.
