I'm not a fan sorry 😬if you're keen on it, you could go for Margaret, call her Peggy yourselves and then if she doesn't like it when she's older she'll have the option of Maggie, Daisy etc?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 10/08/2023 21:05

I like it. But as It's traditionally short for Margaret, I'd put Margaret on the birth certificate and call her Peggy.

Jojobees · 10/08/2023 21:05

I like it.

Horrible. Sounds like eggy (as in fart)

AnnieKayTee · 10/08/2023 21:10

I actually quite like it but I'd go with Margaret and nn be Peggy. She then has options when she's older.

I've always liked it (possibly because of the one in Swallows and Amazons). I think nowadays you could probably use it as a full name, as other names like Tilly, Milly, Harry and Charlie that used to be informal forms of other names get used as full names now. But I'd maybe use a more mainstream middle name just in case you end up with a child who doesn't like to stand out in a crowd.

GreySweater · 10/08/2023 21:52

Love it!

Cactusali · 10/08/2023 21:56

One of my favourite people in the world was Peggy. She is long dead but a wonderful person. Go for it!

Biscuitsneeded · 10/08/2023 21:56

Absolutely dreadful.

User3735 · 10/08/2023 22:01

I adore it.

shoopshoopdedoo · 10/08/2023 22:24

Like it, especially as a nickname for Margaret

IRecogniseTheLocationInThePicture · 10/08/2023 22:28

We had a Peggy in our family, she was actually Peggy on the birth certificate rather than Margaret, although it always baffled me how you get Peggy from Margaret anyway.

I like it, I suppose because it’s a familiar name to me, but I think it’s lovely.

DuchessOfSausage · 10/08/2023 22:53

Margaret was very popular, and names were reused more, so you could end up with Maggie, Meg, Peggy, Daisy, Madge, Marjorie, Greta etc all being registered as Margaret.

DuchessOfSausage · 10/08/2023 22:55

Margaret - Maggie/Meg - Peggy
Mary - Molly - Polly
etc

I like it.

user1492757084 · 11/08/2023 09:52

I also love Meg.
Do you like Betty, Betsy, Lizzy, Lulu.

PossiblyNotOne · 11/08/2023 10:10
