The only Lake I’ve ever met is male, and in his 50s - 60s. As he is from Scotland I’d assumed it was a Scots name.

DH refers to Lake’s son as Pond, but only to me.

If it was a Scot’s name he’d be called Loch 🤣

It’s beautiful and an example of a nature name that’s lovely. I know a male Lake IRL and just the actress Lake Bell so it’s not common but that’s good thing. Strong, modern, serene sounding. Hope you use it. How boring life would be if we all picked the same names.

NO

Daisybuttercup12345 · 15/08/2023 01:07

Silly.

SequinsandStiIettos · 15/08/2023 01:24

I thought of Lake Bell straight away. Watched Man Up again the other day.
It's pretty but depends on your surname whether you can get away with it.
I didn't even mind Jamie's son being called River Rocket Blue, it sounded poetic.
There's always Lark which is more known but reminds me of Life in pieces, which I'm still sulking about (cancelled after four seasons when there was plenty more to do).

You could try "Marsh" or "Bog"; "Puddle" is quite nice for a girl.

whimsical1975 · 28/08/2023 22:10

I love this name - Laken is also pretty imo

stripeymonster · 28/08/2023 23:19

Nope.

CoteDOpale · 29/08/2023 12:53

I know a Laken which is an actual name, could use Lake as a nickname?

CoteDOpale · 29/08/2023 12:54

That said, I really like River so absolutely no judgment from my side!

lastminutewednesday · 29/08/2023 12:57

I like it.
I have a niece (an American if that makes any odds) called Lark and I like that too.

Candymay · 29/08/2023 13:02

If it’s the sound you like would you consider cake? Cookie for short? If it’s the wateriness how about shake- like a drink? Both of these are underused at the moment. There are three Lakes in my daughter’s class this year.

Potatomashed · 29/08/2023 13:03

Reminds me of pro-surfer Lakey Peterson

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 29/08/2023 15:56

Oh dear. Any other contenders?

schnubbins · 29/08/2023 16:28

What about Tarn as a name ,meaning mountain lake .I know a Tarn and it really suits her.

CurrentHun · 30/08/2023 01:29

Tarn is gorgeous!
