shoopshoopdedoo · 10/08/2023 22:28

I don’t like it at all, sorry

Kleptronic · 10/08/2023 22:33

Tarn is quite nice.

TappingTed · 10/08/2023 22:37

@KirstenBlest how else
would you say Enid????

@user11121314 please don’t. We know a male
layke and he’s a little twat.

KirstenBlest · 10/08/2023 22:41

Enid is ENN-id. it's a very old Welsh name from the Mabinogi (Geraint & Enid).

KirstenBlest · 10/08/2023 22:43

The Layke spelling is dreadful.

PickledMuffin · 10/08/2023 22:45

i know a boy called Lake. I don't like it, not for a girl either. But, your child so your choice.

CostaDelPatio · 10/08/2023 22:47

I always test names through an immature lens (pre-empt the bullies or creative teens) and Lake just makes me think wide and wet!

mrsdanrose · 10/08/2023 22:48

It sounds a little bit more like a boy's name but if you and your DH love it then go for it! It's not really awful.

Tiredmum100 · 10/08/2023 22:57

I don't like it. Sorry.

golddustwomen · 10/08/2023 23:00

I like it!

justanothermanicmonday1 · 10/08/2023 23:00

This is much prettier than the Barbara someone posted about last week lol 😂

MrsMop1964 · 10/08/2023 23:01

Siblings Emerson and Palmer ?
Seriously though I'm not keen on it.

Snugglemonkey · 10/08/2023 23:02

No

similarminimer · 10/08/2023 23:06

I lake it!

And actually I really like it.
Lovely sound
Lovely calm association
Do it - is's not normal so the Ella and Emily lovers will raise an eyebrow, but if you're thinking of it, you're not going far mass-appeal. Why oh why ask here?

KirstenBlest · 10/08/2023 23:08

Flake

KirstenBlest · 10/08/2023 23:09

It has plenty of nn potential - Puddle, Pond, Flake, Reservoir...

chubbachub · 10/08/2023 23:09

Will it change to Loch if she visits Scotland?

Highdaysandholidays1 · 10/08/2023 23:14

Blake?

I think Lake is fine, I wouldn't want to be called Lake myself, but it's not the worst.

Like people calling their child Sian but pronouncing it Cyan.🙄
DM has two friends called Enid. One is Ee-nid and one is Enn-id.

I’m not keen on Lake either, sorry op.

I never knew that ENN-id is the correct pronunciation of Enid.

So I've changed my mind about Enid, it's actually quite pretty when pronounced correctly.

What about

Stream

Estuary

Channel

Bay

Pond

Or if you prefer hyphenated, Ox-Bow.

TaigaSno · 11/08/2023 01:36

I really like it, I like all nature-themed names. Lake has a nice sound to it.
It's the sort of name people on this site will criticise, but in real life if you met a Lake you'd think they had a really cool name.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 11/08/2023 01:39

Prefer it to Willow Nevaeh other airy fairy names !

Onehappymam · 11/08/2023 01:40

I like it! Not the type of name I’d usually go for, but it’s classic with a modern feel. It’s a yes from me.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/08/2023 08:07

It’s nice
