I like Polly. It sounds fun and fresh.

PickledScrump · 30/07/2023 18:06

Holly is very popular, Molly agree prefer Mollie, I like it. Polly I want to like it but I just don’t with no real reason

Annoyedwithmyself · 30/07/2023 18:06

LaurensArmpit · 30/07/2023 18:06

Polly - Pretty Polly tights/parrot.

Holly - no.

Molly - a very popular name, it's ok.

I prefer Dolly.

So, here's the thing: if you just list names that all rhyme like Polly, Molly, and Holly, it's not exactly riveting. But, take those names and mix them up with some non-rhyming names like Anna, Sophia, Polly, and Rose, and suddenly things get way more interesting. Personally, I'm all about Molly and Holly with a y or -ie, but when it comes to Polly, I say only use the y version. I really like Polly it's s just got that sassy, spunky vibe that I find attractive but it's a tiny bit twee?? Also just because there's a clothing brand with the same name, that doesn't mean anything - Zara is still a totally legit name, right? All in all, it's a pretty decent list, even if it is a little on the rhymey side 🤣

@Annoyedwithmyself What names get you excited?

I actually like longer versions of names such as this, so not Lily, Pearl.and Violet Victorian great- great granny era but mid century Pauline (Polly), Barbara, Mary (Molly), Pamela, Margaret, Maureen, Susan type names. Holly is ok as a botanical motif but done to death some time ago.

frozengrape · 30/07/2023 18:15

Holly is great for a Christmas baby...or cheesy depending which way you look at it

LaurensArmpit · 30/07/2023 18:16

Love it!

Yahyahs22 · 30/07/2023 18:38

Love Polly. I might steal it if I ever have a girl..

DuchessOfSausage · 30/07/2023 19:00

Polly - like it, sounds assertive
Molly - like it
Holly - like it but it's a bit christmassy, slightly dated

pambeeslyhalpert2 · 30/07/2023 19:19

I love Polly so much

PerspiringElizabeth · 30/07/2023 19:22

Love Holly

Polly makes me think of a pig I’m afraid.

Molly is ok but a bit mop-like. Molly is a family name for us but I’d only ever use it as a middle.

Tetchypants · 30/07/2023 19:25

Brolly has a nice sound to it, it’s short for Umbrella.

Alloveragain3 · 30/07/2023 19:38

Holly is a Xmas name for me.

Polly reminds me of old nursery rhymes

Molly is sweet but also another name for the drug ecstasy

yikesanotherbooboo · 30/07/2023 19:40

Polly for me.
