Polly, Molly and Holly.

I love Polly.

Molly is OK but I find it a bit cutesy. Holly is OK but feels a bit dated to 80s/90s to me.

cptartapp · 30/07/2023 20:17

Holly - dated
Molly- a last resort kind of name, like you've given up trying to think
Polly - dreadful

TaigaSno · 30/07/2023 20:20

For triplets? Definitely not.

Individually?
Polly - nice but she'll be forever associated with parrots.
Molly - a bit drippy.
Holly - nice classic name.

Chevrotains · 30/07/2023 20:25

I like Holly, I'm quite the fan of all nature names. Molly is the second best, but not a huge fan, it's okay though. Don't really like Polly!

OverTheCountryClub · 30/07/2023 21:08

I like Holly but must have taught hundreds of them over the years- it's a very popular name in my area! I love Molly; would definitely have been tempted to use it if I'd had a girl. Polly is a fantastic name - I knew a very glam Polly once so I have positive associations! Also has a kind of vintage vibe but not too staid/old fashioned.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 30/07/2023 23:42

How about Lolly?

Or Golly, as in Gosh, not the other one :)

LulooLemon · 30/07/2023 23:51

Polly - no, it's a parrot

Molly - ok, but I just want to add 'maid' because their cars are everywhere in my area

Holly - nice for a winter born baby

barbieseyebrows · 30/07/2023 23:52

Polly the parrot

Molly - ugly

Holly? Perfect for Christmas

TomatoSandwiches · 30/07/2023 23:56

I don't like them, at a push I'd go with Polly.

I like a pp suggestion of Dolly.

MissedItByThisMuch · 31/07/2023 00:03

I love Holly, preferably not for a Xmas baby - I find that too twee and theme-y. Don’t mind Molly, don’t like Polly much but can’t put my finger on why. (It’s nothing to do with the parrot association, you can think of things like that with lots of names).

Also like Maggie if that’s now a contender.

WanderingWitches · 31/07/2023 00:37

"Polly put the kettle" on and "Miss Polly had a dolly who was sick, sick, sick"

Molly is ok but a bit boring. Same with Holly.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 31/07/2023 00:41

Holly is more for a Christmas baby.
Not keen on Polly or Molly.
Love Dolly (Dorothy or Dora on bc)

becarefulofyourheart · 31/07/2023 00:43

None of them are bad. Holly has some class, it’s a nice name for a winter baby. Molly is inoffensive, my son is nearly 15 and we know several of them. Polly reminds me of the nursery rhyme, as in, get the kettle on, love.

What about Paulette, Margot, Connie?

Yes, my thoughts exactly.

becarefulofyourheart · 31/07/2023 00:45

Also like Dora as suggested by another PP. Would have called DD Dora had the eponymous Explorer not been such a big thing.

TossacointoHenryCavill · 31/07/2023 02:34

Polly is a short form of Penelope isn’t it? I’d be tempted to go with Penelope for the birth certificate and Polly as a nickname. It would give her options later.

Mumofgirls2017 · 31/07/2023 04:04

I like them.

polly
holly
molly

that order

also like Dolly 😂

keelo123 · 31/07/2023 04:16

Polly reminds me of that weird creepy mini doll that used to always go missing out or her mini dolls house, drive me crazy… so thumbs down on that one for me! (Sorry!)

Molly… my mums dog’s name is this and she is a very irritating soul to say the least, the name gives me slight symptoms of PTSD haha.

Holly, I love that name, very much actually, I’ve known a few dozen people and pets named this, some horrid, some lovely, still the name hold up in likeability!

I say Holly 100%

keelo123 · 31/07/2023 04:22

Hahahaaa - you got me giggling loudly at 4:20am in the morning… I’m also saying golly along with gosh for almost waking the 5 yr old boss haha😂

All nice enough names, order of preference would be

Molly
Polly
Holly (not for a Christmas baby)

definitely with -y endings rather than -ie.
Also love Dolly as mentioned by a few pps.

JellyDeels · 31/07/2023 13:05

PerspiringElizabeth · 30/07/2023 19:22

Love Holly

Polly makes me think of a pig I’m afraid.

Molly is ok but a bit mop-like. Molly is a family name for us but I’d only ever use it as a middle.

"Mop-like"? What the hell does that mean? Please elaborate.

No, it's not. It's a name that was used for a girl called Mary (Mary - Molly - Polly), back in the days when only a few names would be used within a family.

user1492757084 · 01/08/2023 09:25

They are fine names.
Mary can be called Mollie or Polly,Maisie, May etc..
Holly is a spritely, cheerful name.

Do you like Llanelli?

KayEmAy · 01/08/2023 18:37

Honestly, the only thing I like about any of them is the nickname Olly
